Darvocet

My doc says he wants to prescribe me with some Darvocet. However, I have heard that its not a very good pain reliever (very weak). I need something that is going to help my knee (which I twisted while climbing a latter). Any of you here got advice about Darvocet and its potency (does it work for pain)? Thanks.
