Does not sound like a bad doc to me. Darvocet for your problem sounds reasonable in this day of paranoia. My knees right, one espicially is litterly shot.I am 15 years away from replacement age. I have a long history with my knee doc. After surgery they keep the pain under control. Normal pain control for years for me was naproxen. Then after almost bleeding to death. They switch me to Darvocet, and every few months change to t-3s.This seems to work for me at least better than the NSAIDS.My doc has been very candid,he will only prescribe percocet and Vicodin after surgery.I asked him about ultram he felt for long term use there was more dependence issues than the weeker narcotics. He also told me last January he was no longer prescribing Vioxx and celebrex. He told me they were not as good as advertised and side effects were reported. So why does it take our great protectors ten more months to pull Vioxx?
