Does anyone know whats involved to pick up your PKG from fed-ex, as far as the PKG is in my location, but its not set for delivery until 10/16/03 (Thursday) I called them(1-800-go-fedex) and they said I couldn't because its in a sealed container. Any help would be great.

I have read about people doing this before. I personally would take the time to go down to the fedex location and beg them. I wouldn't rely on a rep from the 800 number. Those people aren't in the actual local office where you would be driving to.
Hopfully others who have done it will answer this question. I am surprised it is at the local location already! Too Cool!

I always print out my tracking page showing it has arrived at my Fedex hub destination, walk in there like I own the place, and tell them the people at the 800# told me I could run in and get it. Never has taken more than a couple moments and never had any guff from them. If you do indeed call the 800# and ask, they will tell you what they just told you. Last time that happened to me, I got right off the phone, went to the hub, and had my meds in moments.

That is what I do too. When I fill out out a form for an OP, I put the shipping address as the FedEx hub, and it always goes there. No problems with this whatsoever. I'm even beginning to know the lady who works at the front desk at FedEx so she doesn't even make me show ID anymore. Not all OPs will do this, but many will. Email them and ask them if they'll let you do this- most don't care as long as your credit card address matches your card. I really like the convenience of being able to pick up at the hub.

I once had an order arrive on Saturday (at the hub) but was scheduled for Monday delivery. The 800 number rep told me I could pick it up but when I got there I was told they did not have access to it. She said something about a sealed/locked pressurized something or other. I did beg her and I did act like I knew what I was doing but she would not/could not budge. I was her only customer at that time so it was not like she was swamped with stuff to do.
Anyway, just my experience. I would hate for anyone to take a 30-45 minute ride just to be frustrated like me!
Good luck to anyone who tries it. I hope you are luckier than I was

WE HAD A PACKAGE INADVERTANTLY REROUTED 2 HOURS IN THE OTHER DIRECTION AND WAS NOT DELIVERED ON THE "PROMISED" DAY. WE CALLED THE 800 FEDEX NUMBER AND EXPLAINED THAT THIS WAS MEDICATION AND THEY HAD A BIG CHEESE FROM THE ATLANTA AREA CALL US PERSONALLY AND TRACK DOWN THIS PACKAGE. WE WENT 10 MINUTES FROM OUR HOME AND PICKED IT UP. FEDEX IS GREAT IF YOU TREAT THEM RIGHT, THAT I KNOW FROM MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

Dharma,
Same thing happened to me. I was out my meds all weekend and a whole bottle just sat at the fedex location. I did everthing but get on my hands and knees and begged, but no luck. They are serious about handing anything out on Saturday, I'm sure since they get $10-$12 more for a Saturday delivery. My two cents.

I pick mine up everytime. You have to wait until they make an attempt. Then I call and say please hold it there and I will pick it up the next day. I have never had a problem. Used to be you could stop it all together but now they have to try first. I am never home when he deleivers(i work 7-3) so this is why I have to pick it up.

I agree with what I've read so far. I always have the package addressed to my local hub as I'm never home to receive it anyway. The one time it was sitting at the hub on a Saturday, I told them it was medication and that made all the difference. I say that because my first call was met with the "Sorry sir, but it's containerized" routine. After thinking about it, and remembering what I've read here, I called them again with the meds angle. I had them in hand about an hour and a half later. So don't go for that "containerized" story in which they make it sound as if they stand the plane on its nose and simply pour the stuff in. If they were really that disorganized, they'd never be able to deliver anything on time.

well, in my experience my package arrived on a saturday at my local hub and wasnt set for delivery until tuesday. the fedex phone help said that there was nothing that could be done, so i went to my hub and talked to a very helpful lady who let me go in the back and she showed me where to look for the package. I was not able to find it so i left and went home and got my wife to come help me look, about that time a driver was coming in and he found it with no problem and away i went with my package....just be really nice is the key

How odd that folks have been giveng lines about why their package couldn't be held/picked up the hub. I have NEVER had a problem with them. The ones that give a ration are the folks at Brown(UPS). I always just track on line and once I see that the it has hit Louisville, KY, I just call cs and ask that it be held at the Ontario Airport hub. Never been a problem the only thing ever said is that the will give me a control number and can they call me back if there is any problem with holding at the hub. ie somebody muffs it up ignores the hold order and loads it on a truck. Everyone has always been pleasant, helpful and I have never had to tell them that it is meds.
Now UPS is another story... Last jerk who delivered to my home, kept shaking the mailer and commenting how it must some kind of pills or drugs. I looked that bozo square in the eye and with out missing a beat smiled and happily squealed, "Oh great! They finally sent me Clamydia and yeast infection medication! Man, have I been scratching like a fiend while waiting for those! So glad they finally got here!" Then I tried to shake bozos hand! Poor slob almost didn't want to take his clip board and pen back after that. Serves him right!!!
