I also know two people whi were KILLED by drunk drivers. Be glad you don't live in Saudia Arabia (death for 2nd offence) or Norway (one year suspension for first offence - 2nd DUI LIFETIME suspension of driving privlidges). I kinda like norways fool me once - but not twice approach.
Gee - I have relatives in MExico - and if you injure someone (esp. a female) while driving drunk - the law is the least of your problems - you will be dammed lucky to survive the relatives!
And I also attend (psy)groups where multiple DUI offenders go - and I am always surprised to hear the "my drinkings not the problem - driving is what got me here!"
ME - I have so many medical conditions and meds that EtOH is NOT a good idea. Yea, give a depressed person a CSN depressant! Not to mention the hearings to keep my licence with a (controlled) seizure disorder.
But I wish the origional poseter the best of luck - I have not got drunk in 7 years - since teh seizures started - but UNDERSTAND that drug addiction (and Alcohol is a drug 'period')_ is a hard battle to fight. Someday the offender may thank godd that he was caught before he injured others(or himself) that day.
