Jen-
Its not as easy as it seems to answer your question, because every single person in this entire world reacts differently to different chemicals. It all depends upon your own personal body chemistry, size, tolerance and just general body make-up. There is no clear-cut, one size fits all answer. Its just plain & simple that some things work better for differnt peeps, than for others. Some people break their leg and claim aspirin is great for pain. Other people Love hydro for a headache, but not for anything else. Its just that everyone is different, and reacts differently to differnt medications. As you see above some people think the duragesic patch sucks, and others will claim it saved their life!! So the only thing you can do is try a few different things and see which work best for you and your situation. All the meds mentioned above (oxycodone, oxycontin, fentanyl, hydrocodone, methadone, morphine sulfate, and even codiene) are all narcotic in nature and controlled substances with the potential for abuse. Also with the potential to help enormously with pain. I wish you the best in your endeavor to determine which works best for you, and not be so tired all the time. You may need a lower dose if you are VERY very tired all the time.. I find narcotics don't make me sleepy at all; just the opposite (there is just one example of a difference right there)
Your mileage will definitely vary
Hope this clears things up just a little,
