I have to use the generics because of insurance reasons but I have usually taken the generic of Lortab 10/650.
My last perscription I was changed to Norco/325. The new genric bottle of Norcos also said hydrocodone 10 with the only diference , other than how they worked, was that the norco genric had less tylenol (or whatever they add to the hydrocodone).
I say that the Norcos did not work as well for one reason. My insurance started making us use Medco mail service for our perscriptions. I have found that several other perscriptions from Medco are not as potent as the generics that I used to get at Walgreen's drugstores.
Is it my imagination or possibly I am correct that Medco is cutting corners so to speak by not putting enough of the narcotic in their drugs. Or is there really a difference in the 2 drugs?
I have also found that the drugs from Medco did not work as long. I could usually go all day with the pain killers from Walgreens but the ones from Medco had erratic acting times. In other words, one pill last 12 hours and then another pill might not work at all or only work for say 4 hours.
I suspect that Medco products are bad news.
Any information please.

Kimbell-1, as far as Norco 10/325 and Watson's 10/325, they are both manufactured by Watson Laboratory. The Watson's are just the "generic" for Norco. Personally, I have found little difference in how they work for me. There was a brief period, not long ago, where many people were complaining about the "potency" of the generic Norco, which are Watson 10/325. I hope this helps some b/c I'm not an expert on this but I wanted to assure you that if you want to save some $$$, the Watson's Hydro's work just about the same IMO. Take care!

Actually Lortab is a Brand name tablet that generally comes with 500mg of Tylenol...They are availiable in 5/500, 7.5/500, and 10/500....the active ingredients are the same....Hydrocodone is a narcotic analgesic that binds to opiate receptors in the brain and spinal cord, Acetaminophen is a non-narcotic analgesic that blocks the production of prostaglandins which helps to relieve pain. So Norco is only different in the fact that it has a lower concentration of Tylenol which is better for the liver as oral medications are processed in the liver and go into the bloodstream through that method, they say that APAP is terrible for the liver and the max dose is 4000mg per day or 4g per day.... Baswan was correct in his information just thought I would surmise it with a definate answer to the difference between Norco and Lortab.....it is just that...they are different names with the same ingredients and availiable in different concentrations of Tylenol...the concentration of Hydrocodone is exactly the same in both...5, 7.5, and 10...Hope this helps...
Just wanted to add....I am a RPh and I have not seen Lortab available in a 10/650...that is usually called Lorcet...All of these names are really useless as far as I am concerned...The only benefit of the extra Tylenol is that it potentiates the effect of the Narcotic, making it work better in effect....

Thans Brains4201 for pulling all the lose ends together. That's what makes the board so valuable. We are able to run a few yards and hand the ball over to another "team-mate" to cross the goal line. You scored a "touchdown" with this one! Keep up the good work.

Many, many people on this board have complained about the 10/325's not working as well as the 10/500's or 10/650's. For that reason alone I have never tried the 10/325's, but then again I don't take more than 3 10/500's per day. Good info guys!

I think that the generic lortab 10/650 that you were taking was lorcet (which is the 10/650 version of hydro). I have taken lortab (10/500) and lorcet (10/650) and they both work similarly for me. I had taken lorcet for a few months thinking that the extra apap would be stronger for me...really, it was just unnecessary extra apap. I have since switched back to the Watson 10/500's which is better for my liver anyways. I personally have never taken the 10/325 norco's so I can't comment on those. The brand name Vicodin 7.5/750's have worked well for me before (just had them recently following dental work).

Man I tried some 10/325s a friend had in exchange for my 10/650s. I loved'em for what I need. They were both Watsons.
I'm going to change my script to 10/325s ASAP
