Does anyone know where to get this?
It is a birth control shot and I need it by september.
I am uninsurable so I can no longer afford to see the doctor to stick a stupid needle in my butt... I'll just do it myself.
any feedback would be great

Almsot any doc can write the script for you.In fact, that is how my doc is doing it. He writes it and I go pick it up and then make arrangements for him or someone in his office to do the actual injection. I could do it myself but it is their policy to have it done at the office. Money Money Money!
You might check out the Planned Parenthood in your area. I went to them for depo shots for several years. It was about half the price I pay now. For the first visit you were required to have a yearly exam with them which was around $40-$50. You also paid $50-$60 for the injection. After that you paid only for the injection, no fees for the office visit or anything. It was a deal. You also could change your B/C method during this year if you wanted or needed to and they provide most everything at a reduced rate. The nurse practitioner at our PP was more thorough than many doctors I have seen.
Anyway, if it is RX'd I believe you will pay around $90 at the pharmacy for the medicine. Be sure not to rub the injection site after you give yourself the shot as it can rupture the little beads of medicine prematurely. You do not want that to happen!
As far as OP's writing for depo I have no clue but it may be available from some of the IOP's.
Good luck!

My doctor gives me a script for it once a year. I go to walmart every 12 weeks, pick up the prescription which is $72 and then my husband gives me the shot. The only side effect I have had from is that I have put on a little weight, maybe 10 pounds. Oh and I also do not have my monthly menstrual anymore either. I have been taking it for 4 years now.

It's an IM shot in the hip. It's not painful but you need to be very careful if you don't know what you're doing, as there are nerves in this area that you DO NOT want to hit. When I was on depo I went to my county health department every three months. They used a sliding scale and I paid fourteen bucks for it. You might want to check out your local health department (less expensive than Planned Parenthood.) Also, I noticed that they always pulled the depo vial out of a refrigerator, so if you order it from an IOP and it really is a med that needs refrigeration, you'll need to worry about the integrity of an injectable that hasn't been properly stored. For something like this I'm not too sure that I'd go with anyone but a professional, but that's just me. I'm a wuss.

I absolutely aggree, this medicine was never naufactured for birth control its was made to put pre-menapausal women into full blown menopause. It is very dangerous and there have been many cases of hemmorageing, blood clotting, etc. Becomming Sterile from this drug is also a BIG side effect. I had major problems with this med, I went on it after the birth of my son, my pre-pregnancy weight was 105, I only gained 23 pounds during prergnancy and after I returned home I was about 115 and fit into a size 5.....I began to gain weight rapidly within about 3 months of taking this shot to the tune of 100lbns within a years time, I saw several drs who refused to admit that it was the depro provera doing this to me, actually had one dr tell me to stop putting food in my mouth! Well I finally found a Dr that did a blood workup and found that my liver enzymes were skyrocketed (your liver synthisizes most of the fat in your body) so I stopped the shot, well my periods (which I didnt have during the shot) came on like a hurricane, almost to the point of hemmoraging. It has taken me 8 years to take the weight off and I am no where near a size 5 I am a size 12 but I am 5'8" so that is acceptable. My point is, if you are young and ever want to have children please do not risk taking this drug, I actually read about an 18 year old girl that hemmoraged so bad that they had to do a full hystorectomy on her not only ruining her chances of ever becomming a mother but losing your hormones at that age will casue her alot of health problems in the future.

I can't say that I know about the medical side effects (but I truly believe you) but I can attest to the weight gain. I gained seventy pounds during the five years I was on Depo Provera, which is only now beginning to come off a year after I stopped the Depo shots. Also, I'm not complaining about not having a period for five years, but they really did hit hard when they came back, harder than they ever had during my "pill" years. Only now, one year later am I beginning to have any kind of menstrual regularity.
To stay on topic, I still contend that the local health department is the cheapest and safest way to go if you aren't accustomed to giving yourself intramuscular shots.
