Yes, Sucks! No pain relief. What else can I say. Some I have talked to says that it ahs helped them some. My wife had an allergic reaction to it.
My 2 cents

Vioxx is similar to any other prescription medication. It works well for some and doesn't work at all for others.
I have tried Vioxx, and it didn't provide any more relief for me than does Tylenol. However, my father takes Vioxx, and it works quite well for him. In fact, it works better for his back pain than does hydrocodone.
So, don't knock Vioxx just because it didn't work for you. Each person responds differently to prescription medication.

The PM doc has added it (12.5mgs) concurrent to methadone for pain control of my DDD and fracture of T7. I just started it today so will have to report back in a few days.

My PM doc prescribes Bextra, which is a close cousin to Vioxx and Celebrix, although the latter two do not work for me. It an amazing drug. One must take this med on a regular basis to build it's anti-inflamatory effects into the system. It's also very expensive.

I take Vioxx from time to time, when I am feeling especially stiff, my neck is hurting, in essence when my arthritis is acting up more than usual and I find it works very well. I take it at bedtime, I was told by the doc this is the best time, and the next day I find myself much more limber. As far as out an out pain though, I still need hydro. It is supposed to be extremely harsh on your stomach though so I do not take it regularly, my elderly father had a very bad stomach reaction from it.

I find vioxx uniquely strong among nsaids... however that's at the 50mg level. Terribly expensive. Celebrex does nothing for me... bextra works some too, but not as good as vioxx. IB or aspirin or daypro or other nsaids i have tried besides keterolac do nothing. Keterolac is some strong Best if kept off the board for an nsaid! too bad its so bad for the stomach... Worked great for me. Both the 50mg vioxx and keterolac kill pain better for me than norco, even two or three of 'em.

I agree that Vioxx is helpful at the 50 mg dose. My PCP prescribes 25 mg once a day - that does nothing at all for my pain. If I take 50mg I get some relief. Like many of you on this board I suffer from DDD, SI joint pain and wicked arthritis. I also take a muscle relaxer and tramadol (these I purchase from OPs and IOPs.)

Anybody get wicked dizzy/vertigo from vioxx? I believe I did, and I'm really still surprised, because I expected a typical NSAID side-effect profile. But WHOA! , two weeks on it and I was slamming into walls and staggering around like a drunken sailor. Plus, I was so sedated! I stopped about 5 days ago and gradually recovered my land legs.
I'm disappointed because I was so hoping it would help me. Now I have a call in to my ortho (of course 3 days ago and still hasn't returned my call....)
