Boy, does that speak volumes!! You are absolutely right, and I am not defending a person (woman or otherwise ) who commits a felony and risks the lives of her children. I have met many a mother who was sure that being a female parent gave her immunity to the rules of the system. Simply not true! Thanks for pointing that out, Bill.

My area doesn't look so tiny in population, but we are also lacking in modern police training and departments. This is because the people who live here refuse to vote on issues that would provide money for public services, including public education. So now we are a rapidly growing area of mostly moderate and low income households, with not enough educational services for our young people who then sometimes end up committing crimes, and this is followed by a less than adequate law enforcement system. It certainly is a vicious cycle.

I'm hoping the newspaper will follow this case further, and not just leave us with the information provided thus far. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
