Apparently Napoleon had a bad case of hemmorhoids. And he always had to ride a horse for days at a time. Poor guy. Maybe there's some historical anectodal advice you an dig up on this with internet in the days before Prep H. Like Hot salt baths. Have you tried a topical anesthetic like lidocaine?
