I have a story that might be helpfull. A few years ago in Washington state i went to an urgent care clinic, and i got a script for vicodin, a day later i called the clinic back and told them that they weren't working for me. The receptionist said they would be glad to switch them for something else if i would bring in the remaining pills. But she was going to confirm this with the doctor of the day first. The doctor called me back and told me that via my name they accessed my 'DEA report' and found every prescription, from every doctor and from every pharmacie that i had gone to, and they recommended me to come and check myself into to a rehab program and then 86'd me from there clinic. I was so horrified and embarrased that i didn't go to a doctor or take pain medication for 2 years out of fear of my 'DEA record'. Someone told me that your name can be flagged from too many scripts, all based on my name and social security number and that little Doctors DEA license number on the pill bottle. Even now, years later when i fill a script at the pharmacy and get panicky like the pharmacist will punch in my social and see everything come up blinking and in red, ha ha. I did have insurance at that time, so maybe they only saw a few scripts and i assumed they saw all of them, even when i didn't have insurance. I don't know, i was just too embarrased to ask.
