Should you apply for Handicapped tags?

This would sem like a no brainer-at first.

If you read my other thread about how can they tell if you are under DUI, it begins to make sense what I just asked.

With some people, there is no question that you should get the handicapped plates. You have to use one of those scooters or devices that enable you to get around.

But I am borderline to that point. Without pain killers of high dosages in most peoples' opinion ( despite I have built up the tolerance and need more just to have it work), I can't get around well.

But with being properly medicated, I can run a marathon (not really but I get around normally). But that is the problem. I never know when the medications are going to quit. One pill works all day. The next day, I take a pain killer and it works for an hour. There is no set standard that my body recogizes. It does not care if the pill says SUPPOSED to last for 6 hours or 24 hours. Plus, medications are made in batches and its like anything else, some batches or iems get more of an ingrediant like cookies and cream ice cream. Some containers have more cookies than other containers.

Back to why you should think about getting that handicapped plate. I had to give you a bit of personal history for this to make any sense.

A lot of people medicate before leaving the house or wait in pain until they are home. I do not work so I don't have to wait. But I do have a life like getting food, and going to movies once in a while.

But should I carry my medication and if stopped by a cop and he has a beleives with any doubt that I may be DUI, he will searche me or the car (happens all the time on the highway I live near for about a 30 mile stretch looking for illegal drugs ).

So if a cop does see you weaving a bit (maybe you are adjusting the radio) and stops you and sees a handicapped plate, that gives him more than probable cause to search you and the vehicle. These days, cops are a law unto themselves since the Supreme Court said it was legal for these probable cause searches with no real evidence.

So after reading this, do you think that having a handicapped plate increases your likely hood of being stopped, asked if you are on medication and the cops take it from their and before you know it, you are in jail defending yourself with a DUI?

Remember, its a lot of money to you to defend yourself. It's overtime for the cop in a lot of areas or at least part of his padi duties.

This is just a topic that I wondered what other people though. Sorry for the rambling.
