Hello all,
I have, although I haven't been officially diagnosed, ADD.My wife will tell ya that I can't keep my mind on one subject at a time. My question (s): Can I get it from a US OP? Is it addictive, if so how long does it take to become addicted? With no records and if an OP will prescribe it, what about the no records issue? Also, I have sleep apnea and am very tired all of the time. Coffee dosen't do much for me. Will Ritalin help any? Also, what schedule is it? II, or III?
Thanks In advance!

Skeery stuff! If I were you, I'd do lots of research before taking the plunge. Find out all about it- side effects, what it is, that sort of thing. It's best to be as informed as possible before stepping into anything new At least, in my opinion.

Bad,bad, bad! They are making alternatives to ritalin, wich by the way is actually a isomer of crystal meth. Look for drugs like concerta and.. I forget the other drug but stay away from ritalin and adderal, which is even worse IMO.

Why are they worse???Are they addictive? I know folks who take it and it really helps them.
Thanks,

concerta IS ritalin, just in a time-released form.
Cylert might have been what you were thinking of...
Cylert has some straight up serious potential side effects, and it is still a stimulant anyhow.
Ritalin and Adderall can be used highly effectively. But if it gets abused, it'd be easier to just shoot yourself in the head and get it over with. Cost less and less painful. I use adderall on work days and I would have been fired long ago without it. Getting it online however, will be impossible due to it's status of CII. Put together a list of the 38 some symptoms, document lots of stuff in your life that paralleled that, then go see a psychiatrist with that info.
Stimulants can be used safely, theraputically, and I highly recommend any treatment be given a vacation every weekend for at least 2-3 days, as tolerance builds quickly. As long as it's respected it can help or even rescue a career or life. Abused, a bullet would be a better option.

I agree with sonick. I have a friend who suffered a heart attack. His two year, doctor supervised (ADD) Cylert habit "may have been a contributory element" in his heart failure. He is ok now but his doctors will never prescribe him Cylert again. Instead, he chugs redbulls all day.
Explain this one to me: why is Ritalin CII whyle Cylert is CIV??

Hi, I don't really post here much as you can see from my # of posts, but felt like I should add something. Ritalin is Methylphenidate, which is not an isomer of crystal meth. There are only 2 isomers of methamphetamine, the + and the - (or d and l). Ritalin has nowhere near the abuse liability or addiction potential of methamphetamine. It is however a variation on the amphetamine molecule and carries most of the same side effects. I was on ritalin for several years and discontinued due the the side effects. For me these were panic attacks, inceased anxiety, and loss of appetite. I personally find that adderall has fewer of these side effects as well as (for me anyway) less of a stimulant effect (although I believe many other people experience the opposite feeling that adderall is the stronger of the 2). Adderall has it's side effects as well, which for me were basically the same as for ritalin, only less intense. I seldomly take either one anymore, but fortunately my add is quite mild and I can generally keep myself focused without them...unless there is a major deadline at work or something that required 110% mental concentration for extended periods of time. Any amphetamine will probably help with add, but you need to weigh that against the side effects, which can be fairly substancial. One good thing is that the amphetamine family of drugs in general poses very little physical addiction liability. The psychological addiction however can be quite profound depending on your personality, dosage, and length of time using. Stimulants might help your condition, but you should do enough research to know what you are getting into. Also certain people should avoid this class of drugs completely, particularly those with certain mental illnesses such as mania or schitzophrenia. A friend of mine was prescribed both ritalin and adderall from her doctor (or maybe she went to more than 1 doc...I didn't ask). I have long suspected she is a touch manic or may have some other underlying mental illness that generally doesn't (or didn't) pose much of a problem. Last time I saw her she was almost incoherant, lashing out at people, very anti-social, paranoid, etc. Anyway, I guess my point is that for some people they are benifical, others they can do more harm than good, and (as with any drug) know what you are doing before going that route. Sorry if this is long winded, but I actually feel like I haven't even started to scratch the surface of what to consider regarding amphetamines as a medical treatment.

Hey Jim,
I have adult ADHD and have been on stimulant therapy for about a year. I started out taking 10mg twice a day of Ritalin. It was awful, it gave me the shakes, it would stop working really suddenly and gave me headaches. Also I would sometimes find myself taking more then prescribed to maintain a even feeling during the day. I told my doc this so he prescribed me a stronger dose and I was to take another pill in the middle of the day. This made me feel even worse. We decided to give another stimulant medication a try because when the Ritalin was working I had great focus and my attention span was great. So I am now taking 20mg of Adderall (d-Amphetamine salt combo) and it works great. There are only a few side effects I dislike which are loss of appetite but I have lost 15 lbs since starting therapy, excessive perspiration and cotton mouth. I highly recommend not taking Ritalin but if your doctor decides you should start taking stimulants take Adderall. You should go to a psychiatrist not your family doctor to make sure you get the proper diagnosis. Don't enter into taking stimulants lightly because they are addicting and are one of the most abused drugs. If you have any further questions feel free to PM and I will get back to you. Adderall will really help with your sleep apnea because it stimulates your CNS. As for what is schedule ll and lll, the DEA gives all drugs a rateing based on things like there potential for abuse, medical uses and black market value etc. Schedule ll drugs are drugs like adderall, percocet, oxycontin, morphine, dexedrine and many other potent pain killers and other drugs abused. It is illegal for OP's to prescribe any of the drugs listed so don't even try getting them online. You would most likely get scammed. Schedule lll drugs are drugs like Lortab, Vicodin, Phenamine and other drugs. These are legal to order online and are pretty easy to get. Ok well I hope I answered some of your questions.
