hi, at the moment i'm kind of in a bind. I am in the process of changing banks so I have removed all of my funds, and therefore my debit/check cards are no longer... I don't have any credit cards, or any type of plastic atm. I want to order at some pharms, but the ones i have my eye on only take visa/mastercard etc. I know that you can get giftcards from bank of america, and visabuxx from the visa website, but to fund them you also need a credit card. I was wondering if anyong knew wheter or not you can fund these with cash, like go down to the bankofamerica and buy one from with green, receiving the card in the mail. Just a quick question, thanks.

You can go to CVS and buy a prepaid credit card. You charge it up at the store, I forget how much they charge initially, maybe $10. You then have to call to activate it. Just keep in mind you have no recourse with those cards, you can't place a chargeback- at least with the CVS ones.
Btw, many CC companies will give you instant online approval and a number to use until you get the real card. I know American Express does this with their 'Blue' card, but I don't know which OP's do and don't take Amex.

I think that you can also get one of these pre paid credit cards at Wal-Mart as well.
I am not 100% sure, but I thought i had read this somewhere. Good Luck.
You know one other idea is to purchase a MO from your bank. I have mentioned in another post that my husband needed to stop payment on a money order that he had sent for his business (turned out he had somewhat gotten scammed and the receiver of the MO was in no way going to cancel his order, so he had no choice but to attempt to get the bank to stop payment on the MO).
Luckily they did and this was a life saver. Therefore noy using a credit card is not as scary of a prospect (meaning you have the same sort of chargemback option with that MO as you would with a visa/mastercard).
I would even think that you are more protected going the bank MO route than purchasing a pre paid credit card. Just a thought anyway though!
Good Luck

I do not know about bank of america but at national city bank you can walk in with cash and walk out with a card ready to use, the cost for the card is 2.95. Here is a link to see if there is one in your area or just call Bank Of America and ask them if you can walk in and buy one.

Ace Cash Express also has cards you can use and reload. I'm not sure of the fees though.

None of those pre-paid VISA/MC cards offer any protection for chargebacks or disputes because they're not an extension of credit.
You can stop payment on a cashier's check but it has to be done before the check is cashed. The bank will ask for a reason and it usually will cost you some money. Stopping payment on most types of money orders is impossible and your only recourse there, usually, is after it's cashed, and only if the endorsement is a forgery. Read the fine print on your money order's receipt. You usually have to wait 30 days to even find out if it's been cashed.
Money orders issued by your own bank will sometimes give you more rights and recourse options than the money orders you can buy at a convenience store or USPS. Read the fine print.
There can be criminal charges of check fraud if a stop payment on any kind of check is used to avoid paying what someone owes. It's the same as writing a bad check.
If you have a decent credit score, you can apply for and be approved for a credit card online in a few minutes and be able to use the number immediately for purchases. Don't ask me where. Do a Google search.

One thing I know for sure is once you start charging your meds on credit cards it can be really expensive. Good idea to only use available cash

"God, how I wish I could say I had 'no plastic" It adds-up pretty quick when it isn't actually passing through your wallet, doesn't it? Seeing those green bills before you pass them on is a whole different story. Just looking at a number on a bill makes it too easy to spend. Great convenience, but with all things pleasurable comes a price. Literally, in this case.
