I hate UPS!
      #102674 - 09/25/03 05:38 AM

UPS may be reliable, but Best if kept off the board are they $$$$! 25$ for overnight? SHI.TE, USPS would be like 12$. ANd they would do 2-3 day (2 day for me living in the SE, maybe even one day from most US records OPs) for like 3.00$. I ship all of the time and UPS is always around twice (or more!) the price of USPS. Why won't any of the OPs use USPS? Why would anyone use UPS? I don't understand. As far as interstate smuggling goes (if there was something illegal), USPS is the way to go. Its called probable cause, not to mention volume. Those ol' brownnosers UPS deserve nothing, they're just another greedy corporation getting rich for no good reason (not good because they just provide the same service at twice the price, and still aren't forgiving when it comes to insurance or quality- they don't even come to my neighborhood til after five in the afternoon usually, but if my stuff is sent USPS I get it at around 10:00). Don't I fund mail by paying taxes, not to mention the exhorbitant stamp fee of .37$? God, I'd worship you if you didn't make me use UPS! Or, as I call them, the Devils in the brown uniforms!

Correct me if IM wrong but the price is set by the OP although UPS is still high, the money being made is by the OP.

Personally, my guy in brown is very nice and goes out of his way to get my package to me.

My son works for UPS(8years+)but that's not the reason I love them so much, my UPS delivery man is the reason, he's going to retire in less than a year and I'm heart broken. Myself I'm not very fond of USPS because they are way to nosy...

FedEx has their service beat hands-down. Order two-day which is cheaper and it shows up the next day. They are AWESOME!

The only thing I hate about UPS is Next Day Air Saver. I can't stand OP's who ship this way and I have to wait from 8:30 in the morning till 7:30 for my meds!

Don't get me going on UPS. Track system is pitiful. Goods of value, ie electronics usually arrive looooking like somebody booted them out of the airplane at 30,000 ft to my front door, local hub info is unpublished, no Sat deliv where I live, web-based home shipping system is awful.

FEDEX for service and reliability, USPS for cost in my book.

Actually, the cost for Fed-Ex ground is extremely cheap, especially around Xmas time when mailing packages. About 5.00 compared to 13.00 for USPS and even more for UPS.

You guys are the best! I just love my UPS man, he goes above and beyond the call of duty in my case. He knows I work and when I will be home, I get a lot of packages from ebay and online shopping before anyone jumps to conclusions, so he brings my packages late in the day. UPS Rocks!!!!

The USPS receives no tax funding.... they are required by law to be self supporting....just FYI

I use USPS for EVERYTHING I ship. (I sell books online, so know my neighborhood postal service workers very well--no cute ones, tho! )

The internet company I work for (women's clothing) ships everything UPS (Saver for Next Day Air)... In four years running my own business using USPS (about 50% of my business is international, so it goes Global Priority Mail Flat Rate for $9.00 anywhere in the world for 2-4 day delivery) I have NEVER had anything get lost--even using Media Mail for most of my domestic shipments. However, UPS consistently loses (how can you "lose" a package that is supposedly scanned from every point???) misdirects or damages the shipments for the company I work for. I'll admit that I don't do as much shipping as my employer, but my business doesn't have a full-time staff of 6 just to deal with shipment issues, either!!!

My vote is for the USPS--and they don't "take names" and have a more anonymous shipping system--which suits me just fine! If you want something tracked, you pay 40 cents for it. Done deal.

Take care-

I gotta go on the pro-UPS anti-USPS side of the fence I guess. I've had nothing but stellar results with UPS over the years but have had more problems with the USPS that I would ever imagine possible. If I had a dollar for every time i've had mail "lost" i'd ... well, i'd have enough money for another order or 2. And to make matters worse, I've never even gotten the courtesy of a simple "sorry" from them when they screw up. Last time, they lost a car license plate I had to have shipped to me, a package they assured me would arrive safely via the shipping method they insisted was the best route. I emphasized how important it was that it arrive safely. Days later (and to this day) it's nowhere in the tracking system and is still missing in action .. and what do they tell me? I quote "Oh yeah, a license plate? You wouldn't believe the number of those that get stolen." And this was from the same freaking moron that told me that mailing the thing using that particular method was perfectly reliable. Talk about wanting to go postal... And then add all the packages i've received (read as "found") hanging on the outside of my mailbox, not protected from the weather and in a torrent of rain, and i'm not very happy with the USPS. Wet computer parts always make my day. I'd think it's a local problem but i've lived in 3 states and have had about the same luck every time. Personally, I wouldn't send anything through the USPS that I couldn't replace fairly easily.

NS - I say dispand the USPS and gimmie a little bigger tax refund next year...

Novashok88-

Don't you think the wet computer parts and plates being stolen sounds more like a packaging problem than a shipping problem? I'm not trying to be negative, but I ship EVERYTHING to withstand shipping abuse and all weather conditions. If I shipped something like a license plate or other identifiable object, I'd be very sure to package it properly and make sure it wasn't recognizable to the handlers along the way.

I've had UPS deliver an EMPTY box with an explanation that it was "damaged" en route. Their claims process is tedious and it took more than 2 months to receive a refund for the missing merchandise. I'll concede to not having had to file a claim with the USPS, so it could be the same there.

Just something to ponder...

I choose UPS or FedEx because USPS cannot truly overnight a package. Their "next-day" service is a guaranteed 2nd day service. There is no way they can get a package to me (in the midwest) from Florida or even Illinois the next day. It's always the same thing- guaranteed 2nd day delivery. My last order was from only 300 miles away, and they still couldn't get it to me overnight even though it was on it's way before noon the previous day. Their tracking service is a joke, too. If you want to find out where a package is at, forget it, they'll only tell you when it left. UPS and especially FedEx give you the whole story. I got an overnight package via FedEx yesterday that didn't leave it's origin until 10:30pm on the 3rd, and it was in my hand at 9:45am on the 4th. That's 11 hours and 15 minutes. Granted, it was from a neighboring state, but there is no way USPS can come anywhere close to that kind of service.

hi. i worked at ups for 2 x-mas seasons. you really can't blame the drivers for late deliveries (i don't like it either). i'm tellin ya, loaders and drivers really have to bust their ases to get the job done. i've heard they have the drivers routes timed down to the minute. the place is full of unhappy employees, only the money keeps them there.
DO NOT get injured on the job. i never did, but many of those who do, are just fired, so get the lawyers and get on the workers comp merry-go-round. i'd have something to say to a driver about the late delivery (after 6:30-7 pm.) if i didn't know they do sometimes unreasonable amounts of work. as far as getting the package to the wrong addy
which has happened a few times, i do make it a point to have a friendly "chat" with the driver. i give UPS a C+
grade overall, with not much of the blame going to the actual "workers". happy trails, rich

I've been astounded at the shipping rates from 2 ops, netpain and aaamedsworldwide. I'm fairly certain this applies to all OP's. The overnight rate is definetly inflated. This is another way OP's and other companies make the coin.
