Getting four meds from the same OP?
      #98929 - 09/09/03 07:45 AM

Hey everyone, I have a fairly simple question that has been driving me nuts. I have used NWW for my anxiety and back problems (Xanax and Norco for each problem) but i'm finding a need for Valium again (to help me sleep, nothing else works... i've tried almost everything they can throw at you) and something other than Norco for my migraines (maybe Finoral, or something like that, the Norco simply doesen't work for my migraines).

Now the question, should I find a new OP to prescribe the Valium/Finoral? I would think setting up another consult with NWW asking for ANOTHER benzo and ANOTHER pain med might get me declined and lose $25, or even worse that they might think I was an addict or something and drop me as a customer. Is this just paranoia? Has anyone else done something similiar?

Also, where would I get a prepaid credit card at? They have yet to overcharge me but there is no reason to not be safe. Thanks everyone.

I would NOT ask NWW for those meds if you already have 2 prescriptions from them. You may want to look at using an IOP for the other 2 since both should be available and you wouldn't be double dipping in the US. I'm almost certain they wouldn't write xanax and valium for one patient, I don't know any doctors that would do that.I wouldn't risk losing a good thing, but it's up to you-- KO

You could always send them an anonymous email and ask, just saying that you get prescribed Xanax and Norco (believe me, that won't give you away lol) from them, and you feel you need a sleep med and different med for migraines. Tell them in the past what has worked for you, and would the doctors write prescriptions for all four drugs.

That's probably your best bet if you are committed to keep with NWW, but you may very well have to use another op. If this is the case, I'd suggest EVMG or AAAmedsWWW/Meds123.

Good luck.

I personally would use another OP. I wouldnt risk it, i do not think they would write the scripts anyway. Best bet is find another OP for those meds. Good luck

I agree with Tansun. They are not going to give you Valium if you are already getting Xanax - try another OP, one that is not associated with NWW or the doctor.

Hey Skizzik, are you looking for the plain Fiorinal or the Fiorinal w/codeine? You can order Fioricet from Prescription Key West, but for the Fiorinal w/codeine you will need a prescription. Just wondering which one you were looking for. Prescription Key West is excellent. Hope this helps some. EMJ

Skizzik

If you are having a hard time sleeping at night do not take Fiorinal or Fiorecet as they contain 40MG of caffeine in them which will probably, like me, keep you up all night. I would suggest using Phrenilin instead. Phrenilin is the same as Fiorecet but without the caffeine..Taking Phrenilin along with taking Xanax will definately knock you out.. Also, your sleep problems may also be a result of taking too much hydro.. Try not taking hydro for a day, if possible, and see if that helps at all..

Phrenilin can be found at Prescriptionkeywest.com

Well, that isn't a bad idea, about the hydro and caffeine. I had never heard that hydro could keep you up, it makes me tired usally, but that just might be the Xanax (but Xanax alone makes me far from tired). I guess I will search for a good OP to help me out on this, I figured it would be a bad idea to ask Norco about that, thanks.

I'm with the rest of the herd on this one. I would not order *those* four meds from the same OP.

Though issue has been covered, I also recommend ordering foreign for your extra needs. As soon as your refills are up, next time you could ask for the valium and Fiorinal instead (at NWW)if you still want them. I have heard of one OP giving 3 meds before but never 4.
As for Xanax, it isn't a hypnotic anyway I do not think. Maybe a true sleeping pill is what you need.

I agree, try a sleeping pill, but if you take it for 7 or more days, you will probably get addicted to that too and with fiornal, valium, xanax, norco and now sleeping pill, you will be a slave to them all. Mixing meds actually cause sleeping problems. Xanax and Valium are anti-anxiety pills and usually prescribed one or the other. Mixing that could be dangerous and doesnt make alot of sense. I wish you luck, but consider that taking the mix of meds you take now are the reason for the sleeplessness. I dont know the cause of your insomnia, its not likely pain since you have 2 pain meds and you have 2 tranquilizers, it may be in your head. I had a sleeping problem for 6 months, I took ambien and relaxor on and off and then I read into it and was able to fall asleep. You wont be able to sleep if you take sleeping medication for long periods of time without the meds, adding to your problems. I think every human in the world has had a couple restless nights and then try to focus to sleep and once you think about sleeping and how you actually fall asleep, waiting for it, it makes it worse. I find thinking about the next day or other things on the lighter side of life edges me into sleep. I also believe my cat has a part in it. He always sleeps next to me and I mean really close and his falling asleep helps me. Its almost weird sometimes when he doesnt come to lie next to me for longer than his usual 5 minute wait and once he lies down next to me, I can fall asleep easier. I hope this helps and I hope you don't think i am judging you or what you take, its your life. I just hope you can eliminate one med than add another. BTW, valium stays in your system 3 days at some levels, xanax may too, I dont know, which makes (can) you lazy opposed to a sleeping pill designed for 7-8 hours and no ill effects when it wears off

Well, i'm actually not on four meds right now, I WANT to be put on foud meds. I have used all the medications in the past, and the pain in my back and my migraines need completely different meds. I don't take the Xanax everyday, and I wouldn't take the Valium everyday either.

Sometimes I just need help with my sleep, and Valium is all that really works (BTW it's used as a anti-anxiety agent, a muscle relaxer, and sometimes a sleeping pill aka my situation in the past). The migraine med would just make sense if I have migraines a few days out of the week, and the codeine really adds a kick.

I have noticed that hydro sort of "hypes" me up, too. I have seen other posts on this board in which people say they use hydro to give then energy to do housework. They mean energy beyond just relieving their pain.

As you can probably tell by my screen name, I can really identify with snuggling with your cat as a way to promote sleep. I have 2 cats and one of them sometimes hinders my sleep if I'm not super sleepy when he lies across my legs, pinning them down. Most of the time, though, my cats are wonderful, soothing companions.

cats are great, one of my cats follows the same pattern I sleep with. I usually sleep on my side and he sleeps in the crevice under my neck and then middle of night, I lay on my back with my left arm out in an arch and he fits himself in there. I know what you mean about them actually sleeping on you, I have had cats that slept on my head or legs and its hard, my cat cuddles with me, man, I need a girlfriend-lol

its unfortunate that all that is happening. I have had migraines, I have just had shoulder surgery which will be followed by 2 more surgeries and muscle stiffness at night when I try to sleep. Luckily I dont have anxiety to the mix and I agree norco isn't designed for migraines, it makes it worse for some people. I enjoyed imitrex as it attacks the constricting blood vessels. I am surprised xanax doesn't let you sleep, but each person is different and valium is used for basically the same thing and is prescribed for day time use as does xanax, so it may not help you sleep. I wish you luck and I feel for you, but adding new meds just makes so many more to stop when you don't need them anymore or as much

I take Hydro and Xanax (2mg). (I find those to be amazing muscle relaxers for me - I have fibromyalgia and my muscles feel like painful ROCKS - whereas for me, stuff like Skelaxin and Soma are like taking placebos, so for those of you that those meds work for, I envy you!)

I find that the non-compounded hydrocodone, and especially oxycodone when I'm on that, make me feel "energetic" - but having recently switched to 15/80's from United, when I'm in really bad pain I have to take 2 at once at times, and I end up "nodding out" when I never did before on hydro EVER! I can be cross-stitching, reading, whatever, and suddenly find myself with my eyes closed and fighting off sleep and struggling to keep my eyes open! I just don't get it - if it 's the same med, why would one make me "alert" and another sleepy?

I used to never get sleepy on Xanax (I have a high tolerance from taking them on and off for 20 years or so) but *did* find I got a good night's sleep at the end of the day...
but that seems to have changed since getting the compounded hydros. Now I'm sleepy way too much, but at least I have relief most of the time from my intense pain (thank God for that.) Guess it depends on an individual's system.

Anybody else find the compounds make them sleepy, whereas the regular pill form like Norco or Vicodin HP (Watson brands) *don't*??

Take care all, and may you all find the relief you need....
