I am also scripted Duragesic for every 48 hours, because not only would they come off after two days, but I was starting to have withdrawal symptoms every 3 days. The patch would always be all wrinkled up, and I do not think I was getting enough medicine. I have also been putting them on my upper arms, with much better luck that my chest.
I use a product made by Nexcare, called Tegaderm. They are clear covers, which seem to hold the patches down very well. I also use a little betadyne to help dry out the skin, which helps them stick better.
You would think with things like the birth control patch, or hormone patches that stay on a week, that Jannsen could come up with a better adhesive.
For me, the patch controls the pain very well, and I hope they do come up with a better adhesive in the future, so that they are more compatible with people.
I still do have breakthrough pain, and Norco seems to help a little, but there is still a small dip in pain control. For the most part, I am pain free though. The best part, is that I almost always wake up pain free, which was nearly impossible with a short acting oral medication likee Norco. Waking up pain free is the best! Before, my day would start off on a bad note, and as any pain sufferer knows, the day does not get much better.
Best of luck to you, and I hope this helps a little..
