My dear, what a horrible way to be treated! (Or not treated, actually!) I'm so sorry for what you must be going through. My sister had the same thing and suffered through it for years - apparently just as you are. Sadly, she waited too long to finally have a hysterectomy, and now, at age 51, she is almost completely incontinent.
Since you say in the title of your post that you are serious about getting help, the way I see it is that you have some serious decisions to make:
1) Are you going to be wanting to have more children?
2) How much parenting can you honestly do in your present condition, and for how long?
3) Are you willing to continue to suffer and be told to "tough it out," and if so, for how much longer?
Why are you afraid of having a hysterectomy? I know that standard medical practice is to leave the tubes and ovaries in women under the age of 40, unless they are diseased. (The tubes and ovaries, that is.) If you are not planning more children, then having your uterus removed will not cause near the problems it will if you do not remove it.
I had a hysterectomy (removing only the uterus) when I was 38 years old. I had heard/read all the horror stories about how it changed your life - made you feel "less of a woman," etc., etc., etc. However - for me, it was one of the best things I've ever done. I never knew I felt so bad - until I felt so good!!! Because my tubes and ovaries were left intact, I was not thrown into menopause - I am experiencing it now - at 53 - just like nature intended. Instead of a second opinion, I actually got a third, and a fourth opinion! (I'm a bit of a fuss-bugit that way). I finally went back to my PCP who told me something that really got my attention. He said,
"The uterus is good for 3 things:
1) Carrying a fetus to full term. (Are you going to have more children? My answer, "No!")
2) Bleeding once a month. (Do you enjoy your periods? Well, no, not really!)
3) Getting cancer.
Then he said, "so, what are you saving it for?" This may sound very simplistic and a little too pat for some people, but it made perfect sense to me. (I was facing a possible cervical cancer at the time.)
There are 2 very ardent camps on the issue of hysterectomy. I can only tell you about my personal experience and about my personal feelings. Not for one second have I ever regretted my decision to have the surgery. And honestly, sex has never been better. (Blush, blush - please forgive me for being so personal here.)
Everyone's situation and experience is different. I urge you to find another doctor - you are not being treated properly! You are being dismissed, you are not being listened to, taken seriously, or respected, and in my opinion, that is not only unethical, immoral and shameful, it is mal-practice! You deserve better, and you owe it to yourself and your children to seek, find, and finally get the respect and the treatment you deserve!
Please accept my apologies if this comes across as "preachy" to you - I certainly do not mean it that way. My daughter suffers terribly from endometriosis - she is 33 and is finally deciding she will have the surgery. She is a single mother with 3 children and has been treated much like you have been by doctors. It just burns my blood to see those who have taken an oath to "First, do no harm," actually do just that by not treating their patients like decent human beings who deserve respect.
Whew! Sorry to have gotten on my soapbox - again. I will be glad to help you in anyway - please feel free to PM me any time. You deserve so much better than what you have been given, and those of us here at DB just will not allow you to settle for it anymore!
Take care, and please keep in touch with us. There are many good, knowledgeable people on this board who really do care!

Miss E
