Let's see...the first time I went to the ER with my stupid gall bladder, I was given a shot of Stadol and told to go home and take Motrin for the pain. I told the doctor that I was maxed out on Motrin, Tylenol, Aleve, and Orudis KT. All the doctor said was, "you know, you can take 4 Motrin at a time every 4 to 6 hours." Well, DUH. I was also told, "Make some major changes to your diet and be sure to exercise every day. That should take care of it." Well, DOUBLE DUH. I made all kinds of good changes to my lifestyle, losing 50 or 60 lbs. in the process. But my stupid gall bladder had already decided it was gonna try to kill me.

Since then, I've been in the ER once or twice a year with this stupid gall bladder. It's inflamed, not infected, so I just have to live with the attacks. In no particular order, I've been put on Ultram, Darvocet, Darvon, Hydrocodone/APAP, Tylenol #3 and #4, Meperidine (I think that's Demerol or something close), and straight codeine. When I feel a flare-up coming on, the best thing for me to take is one half of a Norco (10/325) and two Orudis KT. If after an hour or hour and a half there is no relief, I take the other half of the 10/325. After this, I can function and not be bed ridden on a heating pad or standing in a almost scalding hot shower.

There have actually been times that I've had no way to get the ER or just any doctor, so I've taken as much of the NSAIDS as I possibly can and then 2 or 3 Benadryl so I can just sleep through the worst of the attack.

So, pretty pathetic, huh? I know, I know...I'm a mess.

Good Lord, I typed a lot! Apologies for the wordy post, y'all. Take Care!

Erin
