I too was referred to a PMD that was a jacka**...had all of my MRI results, KNEW the pain was real, but would not prescribe anything for pain..had to go the 'nerve ablasion' route, after a series of failed epidurals by the ortho (one of which was badly botched by an overly arrogant and obviously undertrained PA). Ther nerve ablasion did nothing...I am currently without health insurance, but when the new policy finally kicks in, you can bet I am getting a whole new 'team' to deal with my back! And fortunately, I have never been labeled a 'drugseeker' (yet), at least not to my knowledge.
I have to second that motion as well. I live in the NY/NJ area and I went to a TORTURE CHAMBER, disguised as a Pain Clinic. I felt like I was no more than a laboratory animal used for experimentation. I took the needles, pain blocks, the mediocre pain meds, but I never felt relief, only MORE pain. I took this BS until finally I blew up in the doctors face. He accused me of going through all this just so I could get him to write strong pain medications!!. I said that is what he should be doing to help his patients besides stabbing them with needles every week and having them beg for a few pills and compassion. I then proceeded to tell him that his pain clinic was nothing more than a scam to rob insurance companies and he preyed off his unfortunate, pitiful victims like a greedy vampire! He immediately wanted to "blow the whistle" on me, but I stood there in his office and DEMANDED that my records be returned to me IMMEDIATELY. I refused to leave his office until I got every piece of paper in my files and would not allow them to make copies. This SOB even called MY LAWYER! That was the only piece of information he had left on me. But I was safe because my lawyer knew I was legitimate and was handling my lawsuit from the car accident that caused my injuries. I was enraged, but I finally took a stand and took control of my life and my pain. From that point on, no more torture chambers for me!!
