If he did steal the rx pads then yep! Jail, part of the problem here is him doing time for traffiking. The way the law is written and interpreted puts him in the "traffiking" catagory.. I dont think he should have been labeled and charged as a traffiker, even the prosecutor said he didnt think he was selling the meds... Also, the mandatory minimum is CRAZY!!! There are murderers doing less than half that time for there crimes.. Something is askew..

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE THAT THESE MANDATORY MINIMUM SENTENCES ARE OUTRAGEOUS. Yes this guy need the pain meds, and obtained them illegally. But to receive a sentence that is equivolent - if not more - than a murderer, is a travesty.

Federal Judges have resigned because of the mandatory minimum laws in place right now. The DEA and our US government are using these draconian mandatory minimum laws related to drug trafficking a money laundrying to threaten and intimidate people into plea bargaining in cases. Because if a person loses in Court, the jury has no say at all in their sentencing - neither does the Judge.

Right now my husband's medical license has been temporarily suspended for working for OPs. He has the chance of being indicted for drug trafficking. My husband hasn't even had an automobile traffic ticket. If charged, he could be facing 25 years in prison for drug trafficking. We, however, will not accept a plea bargain of any jail time or home incarceration. My husband's attorney maintains my husband has done nothing wrong, and that he can win if this goes to trial.

I can tell you that after what we have gone through and still have to go through, we do not have much confidence in the justice system in this country.

After this is over, moving to Belize is looking better and better.
