you should draw a line between those who are on welfare and those who work but can't afford ins. It is a falicy to say the people who are on welfare and other forms of public asstance. the people who live in inner cities and go to the hospital will not be refused care. they get better health care then those who wrok and are facing higher cost of ins. I had to change jobs just because i could not affords the health ins at ny company that i worked for. it went from 150 per pay to 301 per pay that is 600 per month. that was after our HIGH taxes ate up 48% of my paycheck.
I have worked on an ambulance for 15 years. we would spend most of time transporting people from the inner city. 75% of the time it was for illness/injury that could have been taken care of at MD/walkin clinic. but when I heard over and over again people telling me " why call a cab when you could go by ambulance for free" there are too many people abusing the health care system. welfare do not have to pay any CO pays for all the care they recieve. I am still paying co-pays for my care. and some of my co-pays undoudtly go to cover the "unisured' who go to the hospital and get the best care. while us people who work have to pay taxes to support these unisured and our own MD/hospiptal cost goes up to also cover these "unisured" who get any care the need.
do not make blanket staments saying all the uninsured do not get qulity health care. it is only those who make too much money for public asstance but not enough to buy health insurance. it is this middle group that needs health. I see this montra from the left and I was caring for the "uninsured" and it was costing the abmulance srvice millions of dollars a year to treat them. unrecoverable money. it hurt every employee because it was a loss so instead of investing in pay raises and better ins we were providein free care and paying out of our own pocket for them. this is from my own expriances and I see the waste. it agravates me to see those who do not work and yes many do not want to work while myself and my family cant get the same level of care at what they pay (nothing)
