What is scarier than this is the number of new hires in DEA Diversion unit. 100 new this year and 250+ new expected over 2-3 years. These people, unlike DEA agents, are DEA Diversion Agents. They go through a shorter class and spend 100% of their work time on prescription drug investigations.

I wonder why they would need so many new diversionary agents in the coming years when doctors and pharmacists both report shortages in medical staffing???? Fewer docs and pharmacists to review, computerized script tracking that makes it easier, and a couple hundred new bodies to investigate, but investigate whom? They have always focused on the docs and pharms and occasionally BLATANT patients, I am starting to believe that they are preparing for a shift in their focus to going after patients.

I am NOT trying to scare people or start a HUGE panic. These shifts in LE take years. In all my years in LE the fastest move I saw was going after crystal meth and that took 2 1/2 years. Just consider that a more active enforcement may be coming...
