The pharmacy should always verify EVERY controlled substance--especially schedule II drugs. EVERY major pharmacy in bordering Minnesota has a sign stating that all controlled substances required positive ID (though they NEVER check unless you request them to) and will be verified. They may not be verified on the spot, but they WILL be verified.
Another thing to mention about Schedule II drugs---they can only be filled in the state from which the prescription was written. Even if you live in a border town.
There is no triplicate required here, either. And they scripts can be printed from a doctor's computer with an electronic signature. I get these from my dentist for Percocet occasionally and have never had trouble filling them at my regular pharmacy.
Also, the nurse practitioner signs for my methadone and Oxy IR scripts. I always believed they couldn't write for CII's, but must be wrong as I have been getting these scripts for a long time without an issue.
