I had a prescription for Vicodin ES right after my disk replacement surgery. It was from my internist, since I had seen him for a follow-up. I made the mistake of going to a pharmacy that wasn't my regular pharmacy, on a Saturday night.
The doctor wasn't clear on the instructions on the script, as to when I was supposed to take it. So the pharmacist made a big deal out of it. He started asking me when I was supposed to take it. I said it was usually every four to six hours, as needed for pain. He totally harrased me, in front of all these people, asking are you sure or are you guessing? If you don't know, then we have to call the doctor. This was at 9PM at night! They weren't going to reach my doctor. They made me feel like a drug addict! And I had just had disk replacement surgery a few weeks before. I told them this and even showed them the scar on my neck. They said if they didn't reach the doctor, they wouldn't fill it. I made a big stink and said I was in pain, and they needed to fill it, that I wasn't going to wait. They could have looked up my past scripts in their database. I had used their pharmacy before, just a different location.
They finally gave it to me, after about a half hour. But they were SO nasty. I don't get it. Why do they act like that? My doctor gave me the script, I just had surgery. It's not like I was some dirty junkie, sweating and hitting people up for money to score drugs!
