Reel,
I had initially posted about the Fenfluramine in a different area, and when I did so, I also included somwhat of a "disclaimer" stating that as much as I completely appreciate the people who are concerned enough to take the time to write about the possible medical ramifications associated with the Fenfluramine (Pondimin) I also wanted to add that I have already educated myself about the side effects of this drug, and to be honest, at this time, I am still planning on taking them. I am sure that may sound unbelievable to many of you out there, and trust me, I do value your opinions, and I do not mean to disrespect those of you that have suffered from these side effects, or if any of your family members or close friends may have had any of the heart problems after taking the Phen-Fen before it was pulled from the market, but at this time I am still planning on taking them for a few months. Of course that is only if I can get a positive ID on them
By the way, thanks POTATOBOY that was some of the best advice I have ever gotten here, you are a rock star.....seriously, I am going to give the whole picture submission a try. Awesome, thanks soooo much
Now Reel, I wanted to include a few thoughts behind my choice. For one thing, I had taken Phen-Fen for several months before they were pulled and I had lost quite a bit of weight. Although it was more like the freshman 15 and an ever so attractive beer gut that I was trying to lose back then. Nothing like the weight I put on from this surgery.
Now, because of the major side effects linked to these meds, I went and had an EKG and every other heart test out there, just to be sure I was OK. Luckily, I had a clean bill of health. No sign of PPH, or any sort of heart, or heart valve problems. These tests were done 2 years after I had taken them.
Then in Nov 2002, before I felt comfortable enough going under for my back surgery, I wanted to once again get everything checked out. So again I went through all of the tests and once again came through w/flying colors.
Now, if any tests or physical signs had shown even the slight possibility of any of the problems, there would be NO WAY I would ever try it again.
So again, although I appreciate your concern, really, I think I am still going to give it a short try.
OK, also...Initially when I asked my fellow DB'ers if anyone had any possible sources for the Fenfluramine,I immediately became inundated with PM's from several very pis*ed off people who unlike Reel, were pretty rude. Somehow they were offened that I could actualy be so insensitive as to ask where to find Fenfluramine when there were people out there that got PPH from taking it. But there were also several other people who like myself, were desperately searching for it as well.
My answer to the rude people, was pretty much the same response above (except when I responded to those people I was angry at them for attacking me, and with Reels post, I only felt that there was real concern for my health and that was absolutely sweet. Oh, I mean REEL concern for my health.
As for those meanies that PMed me, or to anyone else that get's an urge to become mean because I want to take Fenfluramine for a few months, all I can say is that I am an adult and should not be chastised by others out there who also frequent a fabulous website entitled "drugbuyers". I mean this is not the cookie of the month club here. I like many others here are suffering with chronic pain, so we are always searching for pain medications. Well most of us are aware that there "can be" some negative effects associated with a lot of opiate and other medication use, or abuse. I mean there are people out there who have gotten ill from taking the pain meds, or may possibly have become addicted to pain medications. But the difference here is that I do not see any sort of correlation between those who may have died from an overdose, or who have become addicted from opiates, with those of us that are dealing with chronic pain issues and take the meds for that reason. Yes, the Fenfluramine would only be used for weight loss, and not physical pain, but it sure has added to the mental pain I am dealing with due to the weight gain. Oh, and wait a minute. The weight has also added to my PHYSICAL pain as well, since the more weight I gain, the worse my back seems to get.
Lastly, I wanted to add to REEL'S post by saying that the Fenfluramine is not an herb. I think that was what you were saying, right? Anyway, I do not know if you meant to say it was an herb or a natural product or not, but because it sounded like that to me, I wanted you to be clear that it is not at all a natural product. Maybe you were talking about ephedera.
Also, you asked if I should maybe just stick to Phenterimine as it is not as dangerous, well I have taken Phenteremine for a couple of years now, and it no longer helps me lose weight. Plus, there are studies published out there that suggest Phentermine is also a possible cause for PPH. I found that out when I was doing more research on Fenfluramine before I actually received it.
Sorry again for the long post guys. I guess I just always have so much to say! But thanks again for all the advice you gave!
