Has anyone noticed that our DB site has become very slow---and getting worse? I've noticed it over the last few days, and wondered if anyone had an explanation. It's almost "painful!" to try to access a comment or area. We have high speed DSL also, but being a computer DUH, I don't know if that matters or not---my husband is the whiz at these things. It's not limited to a certain time either---the site just seems to be slow in general. Any insights?

I tried to reply to a message this morning and gave up because it was taking SO LONG! I guess it's a good thing in a way, because I don't spend nearly as much time here as I used to...I am very, very impatient and I HATE waiting!!!!!
....funny, after I typed this post it is now moving very quickly !!

This morning, it took almost 15 minutes to post a short reply to a fellow DBer's note. A second reply, which was a few paragraphs long, took so long I received a time out error. Not only has the site become unbearably slow, I've been noticing an extremely high rise in pop-up advertisements, despite all my internet setting adjustments.
Drugbuyers.comments: we do not use popup ads. If you get them it is not because of us. Maybe your ISP or some other program you use. Drugbuyers.com does not us popup ads.

Well, your reply was -----unexpected. I thought about it, and realized that you thought I was on line here every day, and was a little "slow" myself. I sometimes don't check the site for several days, and may only spend a few minutes here---not enough time to notice how things have changed. Thanks for coming back about being rude--I really appreciate it---I was a little thrown by your initial reply. You probably had an interesting day, and my post, about what should have seemed obvious, was the last straw! Stay well. gl5505

Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I came back and read my post and I was OH MY, THAT SOUNDS REALLY BAD!!! Never meant it to sound that way. Sometimes post, email, etc...never come out in the right tone, you know?

I noticed that last night for the first time. Although sometimes it's business as usual, other times it's as slow as molasses to reply to a post.
I'm on DSL too. A friend of mine says this is likely to happen when too many people are on the site at one time, but I had my slowest DB experience at 3 AM when only 5 or 6 of us were online. What gives???

It hasn't been slow for me until tonight. All sites are slow at times. Maybe DB just has an influx of new members that is logging up the system a bit.

I also have DSL and it just seems to be getting slower and slower. The time of day (like I mentioned in my post above) doesn't seem to matter either. I logged on sometime between 5:00 and 5:30 am and it still took me approx 6 minutes to get from the DB homepage to the posts.

Wow, it just took me 3 hours (no, I didn't sit here and wait, I got up and down checking on it, LOL) to navigate from the DB main page to the recent posts. Methinks something is broken. As Legit just said, help DB!!

I could not even get on for several hours. I'm on cable but today it has been the slowest I've seen it.

I have a theory that what is causing the slowdowns are the RED newest post numbers. Have you noticed they are gone again, and the site seems a little faster.

I thought it was just me. Not glad to see everyone else having problems, but glad it's not just on my end. I noticed it yesterday and just a little earlier today as well.

Oh wow, I hadn't thought of that! I love the red numbers but not that much! Hmmmm. Jordan, I had the same problem, I finally just shut down and took a long bubble bath, everything seems to be running fine now.

The red numbers might have something to do with it. But many moons ago when I joined we had them and the site was running fine.
Maybe it was because there were only about 5,000 members. Maybe DB should delete the members that have not been active for many months. It might help.

It wouldn't even let me get on this morning...but now everything is fine. I wish this prob. would be fixed. I cringe everytime I hit the free board link wondering if I can even get in or if I'm going to be waiting FOREVER !

We will try to find the reason for this.
We have problems from time to time. Our database and boards where down for a few hours today.
Speed is usually quite good but we will soon upgrade to a faster server to be able to offer "New Post Tracking".
There may be reasons not under our control... perhaps a problem anywhere between member pc's and our server, or users downloading music or software while browsing our site...
I am now using a dial up connection to test and I am posting, editing, deleting, and changing pages in seconds...
Can those experiencing problems please post more info, and details like, type of connection, ISP and location?
If you know how to do a trace route please post the results.
Thanks

I am on a cable internet service provider. It is called Comcast.net, and i live in Indiana. I have no idea how to do a trace route, or even what that is. Hope this helps.

Just curoius, but didn't the price of internet service jump considerabily after they change the name to Comcast? I had the service in Indiana also. I was thinking of switching back to them, but I heard it went way high.

DB: I didn't realize I was going to hit a nerve with this post. This was not at all a shot at your site, but an appeal to the membership to help me out if others noticed the same thing happening to them. It would appear that the former is how it was taken. I can assure you, there was no hidden disparaging message in my post. I am not "a whiz kid" when it come to the inet, and pop-ups are a new phenomenon to me. I have no idea where they come from, and as you put it, "We do not use po-up ads" implies to me that certain sites use them and others do - this is news to me.
To the members who are more literate than I, which is probably a substantial number, the pop-ups are a green "SAVE" with a dollar sign, or "TopText iLookup Offer" and it is always some company trying to sell me medication. Any offer to help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I use MS IE, version 6.0 with an automatic link to the MS site for upgrades/downloads.
