Laws On Medical Records
      #62365 - 03/06/03 01:58 PM

I don't know if this is the right forum or not, but I found something that is of interest to anyone using an OP that needs you to send medical records. This website will tell you what the laws are regarding a patients access to his or her medical records.

Also, you can find out what the MIB has on record for you, which is a database that insurance companines use to track people's medical records.

Thanks for the links, especially the MIB link.

This is so scary to think all our health records are in some giant database. I've read all the posts re statewide databases, double dipping, etc. But to know that there is one central area insurance companies, etc. can check is frightening. And, of course, as the patient/consumer, we are the last ones to be able to obtain the information on ourselves, whether erroneous or not, and for a fee.

I'll pay their fee and check it out in the next couple of days. And will report back regarding the depth of this invasion of privacy.
