When I first saw the headline this morning before reading the fine print about it being guaifenesin, I was mortified that it might be dextromethorphan, which is *great* for coughs...guaifenesin being pulled isn't cool either, but it's never done much for me so I was relieved it wasn't the DXM.

Thanks for the informative article, bhmdav. The FDA is just making it harder for allergy/cold sufferers to self medicate. First it was phenylpropanolamine and now guaifenesin. What next? Aspirin!

Aspirin, caffeine, sugar, salt, baking soda, and chocolate.
However, for the time being, they will remain in a soul-tormenting struggle over the issues of alcohol and tobacco. After all, they only eventually kill some people, and it's just impossible to find a way to get them dispensed by prescription. What's a thoughtful, concerned politico to do??!
At any rate, the important item in that stupid order was the reference to *LONG ACTING* guaifenesin-containing products. That would mean certain cough syrups, as well as Bronkaid. Those cough syrups and Bronkaid could return to the short-acting formula (once every four hours) and stay on the shelves. Blech. Ignore the elephants in the living room and go stomping after imaginary ants. . .
