I'm sorry everyone, I've been around the boards long enough to have figured this out but I'm just not seeing it (so it must be right in front of my face - lol).
I hear the talk about stars and ratings, but can't figure out how I can see someones rating? Do the board members rate each other? I looked on the FAQ and couldn't find the answer, could one of you please point me in the right direction? Also, is it the same process over on the VIP board?
And, like always, hopefully I am not posting in the wrong section - if this gets deleted I'll know why

The stars can only be seen when you visit the profile of each menber.

Hey BigSis (BS for short, did you know that? hehe)
I clicked on your user name and your profile showed no stars!! VERY SAD! I bumped it a bit for ya  BTW, they really dont' mean much to most of us...cuz as soon as someone gets a good rating, someone else runs around and gives a rating of "1" so that it drops the average for that member. Meanies!!

Thanks to all of you - I finally figured out that on my computer I have to right click on a member's username and then select open to get to their info. Okay,,,, so I'm a little slow......

I've been here for a while and helped plenty, as well as received help from others, and I think my stars went down from five to two, and no one can make them go up again. Which means quite a lot of people voted me low on the scale. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think the other members hate me or anything because I have very few stars.

Gecko, don't worry about if nobody likes you or they pretend not to could be jealousy.
Heck I'm totally ignored now. Guess I've ruffled a few feathers (they probably needed it anyway). But thats fine too.

we've said it before and we'll say it again: the stars don't mean didly. Right dave? It's true that the 'average' seems to go down faster than it goes up, but it really doesn't. I know because I spent many a dull college hour trying to figure out how one 'C' could ruin my chances to graduate at the level I wanted, when 3 years of 'A's were there first!!?? Kind of like the car insurance thing: I once got a 3 point ticket for having a single car accident on a gravel road with critters. I'd never had a ticket before (or since), yet my insurance went up 300% for 2 years!! When I asked, the company told me "nope, you're right--those 20 years of excellent driving don't mean diddly right now!!"
We each know who to trust here, I think

Don't worry about the stars - I'm coming to the rescue! I figure if there is someone with enough time on their hands to go around rating everyone a "1" just because they can't stand to see anyone with a good rating, I will take the time to give everyone I run across a "5"!. Everyone here has been at least a "5" as far as I'm concerned anyway!

PS. Still can't figure out why someone would go out of their way to bring someone else down. That is so pathetic (whoops, there go all my stars.....I can see 'em packing up to leave right now.....I'm sure I'll be the next victim....)

Gecko, you are one of the kindest & most helpful people here - anyone who's been around for awhile is sure to realise that, so don't worry about the stars, you'll always be a 5 in my book.
I'm sure the comments about star-snatching must be true, jealous people are creeping round & putting other folks down - no doubt DB's know exactly who's responsible!

Wow, I'm a member status now but have never noticed the stars! I got three !! Yeah somebody wuvs me! (or is 3 stars like really bad and nobody wuvs me - in which case, I'm gonna go eat worms?)

Just to clarify folks, I was joking about my feelings being hurt due to my star rating. But I appreciate everyone that has come to my rescue. I now have 3 stars. I had 5, but that conspiracy kicked in.

Is there anyway to change the stars that you gave someone? Here is my chance to thank NewYorker for going well out of their way for helping me with something very near and dear to my heart. Too bad when I went to give you 5+++++ stars I accidently gave you 1 star. I am quite embarassed. Well, you are over 5 stars in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ditto...
