I read an interesting article in The Washington Post a few weeks ago. The article referred to pharmaceuticals ordered from China/East. The gist of the article was that Chinese/Eastern (could this include Thailand?) meds were not reliable and that products from there could be in fact contaminated, etc. Did anyone else happen to see this article. It was over the Labor Day weekend. Maybe if you check the Post online. I thought it was interesting if not a bit alarming.

That would include Thailand. Counterfeit drugs (often from China) are very prevalent in Thailand. In fact counterfeit everything, from designer purses to music CD's and software is prevalent in Thailand. Buyer beware.

I just returned from Bangkok a few days ago. I visited a couple of pharmacies that I have been to in the past. The gov't is cracking down on pharmacies dispensing controlled substances without a prescription. I also read an article about this while I was in Singapore. The locals in Thailand are upset because once they could buy their anti-anxiety meds over-the-counter and now some pharmacies are requiring a prescription. Although, give them a hundred baht donation ($2.50 US) and they change their minds pretty quick.
Watch out for street pushers. You will get ripped off. Find a good taxi driver who speaks English well. Just don't flash too much money around.
Also, there is a new club drug over there call Yabba. It is more powerful that XTC and as addictive as crack cocaine. People will try to sell you these little amphetamine pills. Stay Away!

The Thai government has a good web site regarding the situation of counterfeit drugs in Thailand. http://www.fda.moph.go.th/fda-net/html/product/drug/fda_drug/eng_vers/conditio.htm . Not too say there aren't good pharmacies in Thailand. Just be a little more wary from that country.

Yabba is a very small brightly colored pill. AKA Nazi Speed. Ya Ba ( Thai for crazy medicine ) packs a powerful and long lasting high. The pills are about as around as a pencil eraser. They are often candy flavored to make it more appealing to young people. Ya Ba is a highly pure methamphetamine, some pills also contain ephedrine and caffeine. Bad Stuff !!!!!!!!

Yaba as I recall is made by Burmese soldiers under the direction of some crazy military dictator. It is getting in to the USA via US Military and smuggled also by Asians. They are watching Hawaii very carefully now as well as Asian communities in California. That's what I read. Count me out of this stuff. I think it is best to leave this to soldiers to use. I can't see any other use for it, but knowing America's youth they will be popularizing it pretty soon. Parents - keep your kids at home. It's not the 20th Century any more.

I once ordered some of the 2 mg. hydrocodone tablets manufactured by IP Labs in China (if there really is such a source). I had not found this wonderful website, and must say, I would not have if I know what I know now.
STAY AWAY from these. They were worthless. The pills were tiny, white, no imprint codes, were not bitter to the taste, and quite frankly, I thought it quite possible they were sugar pills.
Buyer beware!

Ok conspiracy theorists...
Lets recap what we've got so far:
Yaba, a drug more powerful than an unspecified dose of ecstasy (mdma), and more addictive than crack cocaine, often laced with some type of acid and flavoured like candy to appeal to young people, is being made by the Thai military under direction of a crazed dictator, and smuggled into the USA by soldiers and/or Asians.
Yaba is Methamphetamine. It is a term used in South East Asia to describe Methamphetamine. Thus Americas youth has been using it for decades. In fact, I beleive it can even be bought on prescription under the trade name 'Desoxyn' in 5, 10 and 15mg strengths... please do a little research before you start stirring up myths. Peace

Just FYI, I spent a year living in China. I was able to by Ultram which I used for my migraines and also a sleeping medicine akin to Ambien. The meds are cheap and they were the real deal. I made sure to shop accordingly prior to my return to the U.S. 50 mg ultram in a pack of 10 was $5.
