In January I'm going to be flying down to the Dominican Republic for a while on vacation. I'm curious if anyone's been down there and knows what I can expect (if anything) in the way of Pharmacies, Doctor's, and what meds are available.
Would also be curious to know what we're looking at in the way of price and what's involved in obtaining the meds. What I'd probably be looking for is Percocet or Oxy......

Hmmm don't know about pharmacies. But they have some of the most beautiful women in the world. Of coarse haiti is next store with a very High aids population. D.R. caters to Yanks (us) and I'm sure you could find a wh*re that could show you a good time and probally point you in the direction of medicine , and maybe a little "toot-a-loot".
If you plan on going the wh$redog route, go to the fleamarket and buy a bunch of 5 dollar flashy watches. Use those instead of cash w/ the girl(with the whrs only).
PS-Also bring a video cam. I've never been there, and am in relationship (also certified L8 Mack) but If I was single I would love to go down there. man...or brasil!

O.K. I appreciate the info on whores and all but this is actually my brother's trip, and he's going to take his wife, so I doubt that she'll be too thrilled if he picks up a prostitute.
RE: Pharmacies........ I've been told that they doc's and pharms there are really very expensive. Oddly enough I know in Brazil there are places you can get Oxy pretty cheap, and since these countries are in fairly close proximity I thought maybe there'd be someone who's been here before and might be able to enlighten me with a success story.
If anyone's even been to the Dominican Republic (or Puerto Rico because they're taking a day trip there) I'd love to hear anything anyone can share on what to expect, or any reccommendations on not only pharm's but on any extracurricular activities....

basically a bump because I'm also making a late winter/early spring trip to the D.R. Any pharmacia info would be appreciated.

Don't even THINK about it - was there last Feb - drug sniffing dogs - luggage search - the whole nine yards. Don't know what you want to buy - but I would NOT recommend trying it - they also have VERY tough laws - and you would NOT want to wind up in a Dominican prison.....
Hotel, beach, etc are beautiful - usually price includes drinks, buffet breakfast, lunch & dinner, large pools, full body massage for one hour for 10USD and many athletic activities for those so inclined.
Very dirt poor country though and would not recommend wandering around unless you know your way around.....
