For all those living in KY with KASPER, can someone explain to me how the system works? Is the doctor/pharmacist report that the script was written or is your name actually put in the system? Is it just for narc's or all scheduled drugs like Ambien or something? I haven't had a scheduled II script in years but did have a Sch III back in March and wondered how that was 'reported' when I filled it?

Kasper was put into work on Jan 1 1999, When you get a script filled at pharmacy, they will ask for a picture ID, and SS#, this info is then put into a database, everytime you get any scheduled drug filled.
Reports showed that 1,145 arrests were made last year alone, for people that were caught doctor shopping from this database collected.

That is scary. Are they just looking at Sch II's narcs or anything? Like Ambien? Is Ultram considered in their 'database'? Are they just worried about "doctor shopping". I just recently changed endocrinologists and that is why I had these new scripts which makes me scared to fill them now.

It said on the website that it included any scheduled substance. Since Ultram is not yet scheduled, you have nothing to worry about.
I do know that when I went to get my sons adderall filled, they asked for my DL, and I had to give his SS#.
I also had provigil filled yesterday which is scheduled 1V, and also had to give DL, and SS#.

I have not heard of this Kasper system. I have never had to show either photo ID or SSN when I get my lortab filled (when I used to a year ago) and I live in northern Kentucky. I have noticed that my PCP will NOT prescribe anything stronger than relafen or celebrex for my pain. I never had a problem getting hydro for my medical problems in either Ohio or Arizona (both states I have lived in over the past 3 years). Although, my PMD had no problems prescribing hydro for me (and Soma).
