If you read my last post today, you will understand that my doctor is a complete idiot and literally wakes up in a new world each visit.
He has been pushing this VXD spine manipulation machine at $3000-4400 for which my insurance will not cover.
If you look this machine on the net, it only has about a 70% chance of success. This is too low a percent for the cost.
According to the homepage of it's maker, this machine is basically the last step when all but surgury has failed.
Pain meds work very well but I have to change the type and dosage every 6 months or so. But it is a lot cheaper than this snake oil machine.
As I see it, my doctor either bought or leases this thing and can't find enough people to make any money and that is what he has become. He is doing just about anyhting to bring in a buck.
I have a personal reason for staying with this jerk for the next year and a half and after that, it is GOODBYE MF.
But until then, I have to endure his used car sales pressure.
I will provide the link to this machine and if you notice, even in states like New York and California and Texas, there are only 3-5 authorized doctors. If this is such a great machine, why are there not more doctors jumping on this 'miracle' machine.

BTW: He is alos menioning those worthless back injections which I had years ago and did not work at all.
This guy used to be a doctor, now he is a doctor with the ethics of a fly by night car lot salesman.

hey kimbell,
i just checkod out the site. the thing looks like a rack! your doctor cannot, in good conscience, push you to spend YOUR money on some enigmatic, not to mention expensive, treatment that resembles some medieval torture device that, in the words of it's own website, has just a 70% success rate, can he? there are only about 140 of them in the whole world even though it was introduced 13 years ago! i don't know about this.... what's next? your doctor will recommend accupuncture or something and pull an iron maiden out of the broom closet? which, naturally, would also cost you several thousands of dollars and isn't covered by insurance. you have my deepest sypmathy. doctors like that irk me!
how is it you have the misfortune to be stuck with this guy for another year and a half? oh, i see that you did say it was personal. please, disregard that question.
your post makes me angry. i'm getting tired of doctors. you are in my prayers. hope things get better for you soon.

I thought after I had made the post, I can see it now. The $4000 was wasted but lets try the back shots.
BTW He also does accupunture. Have you been to this guy, LOL?,
PM if you want to know why I am stuck with this guy. It has something to do with retaining my pension.

the "worthless shots" ya mention....were they by chance
a "nerve root block ??????sure hope they are not one & the same...was hopin' i'd lucked on to something that WORKS !!!!!!!!!!

I can relate to Dr. recommending strang things - My Psyc (panic disorder and bi-polar) stopped treating me because I take hydro for chronic pain and ritilan for narcolepsy.
I tried to ask him to just concentrate on teh psyc stuff but eventually had to stop seein that psyc BECAUSE his requests etc. were out of line and not related to my psyc care.
AND he was anti benzo (great for someone with a panic disorder) so it was a good move to find another psyc/
Now I can go to the grocery store(couldn't before on teh buspar)

There are other ones though. i had cortezone or steriods in my three epidural shots. They either cost $2000 a PIECE or for the set. But my insurance covered it and I didn't even pay since it was in patient surgury. Back in the good old days when I had great insurance.
But the shot might work for you. But post a thread asking if they work . or you can access my posts by clicking my user name. I made this thread about the effectiveness of back shots a while back and a lot responded. Few were helped except I think other than three posters.
I would see what other options were open unless the shots are inexpensive or covered by insurance. Mine may have just cost more because I was in an operating room full of people and monitors.
But a word of caution. Make SURE he DOES have monitors of where he places that shot. Don't let him con you into doing it in his office unlesss he is in a proper facility. It can screw you up. Also, these shots can damage vertebrae. Better yet, DO try and access my thread. I think it went two pages and all but 3 were negative if I remember.
