Greetings,
Does anyone else have bad typing skills from taking Xanax in therapeutic doses? I know it sounds funny, but, I've noticed that even when I don't take the medicine (no panic attacks) that my typing is horrendouds. It never used to be like this (mis-spelling) all the time and I'm growing concerned. Anyone else experience this situation? Much gratitude.

My job is medical transcription so I type for a living. I find when I DON'T take my meds (hydro, xanax, ritalin, lexapro), i'm a total freak and can't think straight, forget about getting ANYTHING done! When I DO take my meds, I am a normal, productive person.
So, no, Xanax does not affect my typing abilities, just makes them better. I really, really like my meds!!!

It's funny you brought this up because I've noticed the same thing! I'll look over what I've typed before sending it and be amazed at the mistakes I've made.

Hmm... You mentioned Xanax and Lexapro. I've worked with two PCP docs locally, over the years, and neither would prescribe a benzo (Xanax, Ativan, etc..) with an SSRI simultaneously - since SSRI's are usually used to treat depression (from what they've told me). That's interesting, although, my older PCP stated that the newer SSRI's are supposed to subdue or eliminate panic disorder coded (in my case) DSM IV 300.01..ie Paxil. They never helped for some reason though. Thanks for the info.

I do feel very comfortable on my med regimen. All except the hydro are prescribed by my psychiatrist.
The Lexapro certainly helps with my depression (as does hydro, Lexapro and Ritalin!). My prescription for Xanax is for 0.5 mg but i tend to just take half at 0.25 and I use it mostly for panic attacks or a articularly stressful day i've had a lot of those lately)SO NO MORE!!!!

My doctor used to prescibe a benzo and SSRI simultaneously too - celexa and klonopin to treat anxiety disorder. He also eventually added Wellbutrin to give me an energizing effect, as the klonopin made me sluggish. Not sure whether it worked or not!

no but i got bad typing from ambien since its so much more powerful than xanax.
one thing i do notice about xanax and valium though, is that they do absolutely nothing for my kind of anxiety. they only cause tiredness. i dont want tiredness, i want treatment of my anxiety. in regaurd to panic attack/headpressure type anxiety, xanax will stop that. but regular worry anxiety and social anxiety? it does absolutely nothing for that, only makes tired. when i tell this to my doctor he doesnt listen. he also keeps saying if i have an anxiety situation i can take xanax, then i repeat myself over and over about how it doesnt work. then he says nothing and continues with his FDA and psychiatry sponsered policy of pro-suffering

Tone: Glad you posted regarding Xanax and Valium. They do absolutely nothing for my type of anxiety, either. I thought I was alone in this. They only make me very sleepy.
My PM doc prescribes the 2.5 Valium for me to take at night, supposedly as a muscle relaxer; I sometimes take two (5mg) to four (10mg). I guess it works, because I'm out like a light!
Also, I notice when I take Valium at night, I usually awaken with anxiety. Strange, huh?
Just my two cents.......

Whoa... That's exactly the same deal here. I wake up with mild panic feelings as well too. I used to get this all the time when my PCP had me on Elavil in conjunction (Yuck). Stopped the Elavil and not as many problems. You're not alone.

I take Ativan at night and it affects my spelling natively as well. I make way more sp. mistakes.
