Flaming/Flame Wars
Flaming is reacting to someone's board posting or PM in a hostile manner by publicly chastising the person or bombarding the person with nasty posts or PM's. Flaming may occur to users that engage in behavior that violates what is considered proper board netiquette. A flame war occurs when two or more users flame each other in an escalating manner that threatens to continue unabated. If you notice a flame war developing just notify the moderator or adminitrator and let them handle it. Do not take part in flame wars. If you do you will be banned even if you did not start it :-)

Hey all you east coasters:
How many of you, if any, are going to the AIDS walk in NY on 5/16? I am going for someone who I was very close too when I was young and she contracted it by a blood transfusion before they tested the blood or knew anything about it!
I think its a great cause and I have a goal to meet of 700.00 in sponsors... wish me luck!
Not I... but that's because I'm on the West Coast Still, I have a goal of being able to do a week long AIDS ride in California (no, I'm not from there, either, lol) one of these days and would love to be able to take my daughter along. I don't know anybody personally who has contracted or has died from AIDS, but I do believe very strongly in the cause. I believe our children are the next most vulnerable generation for contracting this disease and raising awareness is so crutial! I also believe that we need to find a cure so that hopefully, our children's children won't suffer some day.

This is a great cause as the current stats show that women, minorities and as Greycie pointed out, children, are being infected as well.
Fortunately, there's walks in three major cities with New York first:
New York: May 16, 2004
San Francisco: July 18, 2004
Los Angeles: October 17, 2004

Thanks so much for posting this. While such activism isn't DB- endorsed, it is an extraordinary cause in terms of fund raising for very sick people many of whom in great pain and need palliative care.
I'll put a link in the separate Links above. Would suggest moving thread to the Activism Section of the Board, but it's your judgement call. Seems that everyone's seeing it here.
