Does anyone know where Toradol can be prescribed? I'm a newbie and tried the search but came up empty. It's an antiinflammatory that has to be injected IM. Thanks for your help, feel free to PM.

Toradol is available in the pill form too. I haven't any idea if any of the ops pffer it though. Might be easier to find the pills though.

No. I believe that Torodol(sp) is an NSAID, really powerful. They use it sometimes after surgery in conjunction with the stronger narcotic medications. My Uncle is a surgeon and he says it helps to potentiate the strong meds. My sister in law just had back surgery to repair a disc and they kept trying post op to find something that worked to contain her pain, and when they tried the Toradol, she said it helped out a lot. Really tough on your liver and stomach, I believe, so if you get a script for it is only supposed to be for a short amount of time. Then you take a break and can use it again. This info is by no means anything scientific, just info I have picked up along the way, so ask a doctor about it if you want to try. It should not be hard to get a script for it from a local doctor. My uncle actually gave me a script for that and percocet awhile back. He's from a different state than me, so when I tried to fill it in my state, pharmacist said no, on the Percocet. They said they would have to special order the Toradol, and it would take a few days to get it in. I never pursued it because I got it to see a PM doc a week or two later.

Thanks for all your help. You're correct, its very strong.I have fibro and just need 1 shot every now & again to help with the inflammation. My pain management Dr.always gave them to me but he retired and no one else will give me one or even prescribe it. I live in a in a small town with 2 Drs.& they are reluctant to prescribe tylenol. The old give the body time (best kept off the boards).I thank you all for your help tho.

Toradol is NOT the same as Tramadol. Tramadol is Ultram. Toradol (ketrolac) is only used for acute pain. It comes IV, IV and pill form. It is almost never used a period longer than about 5 days for severe pain. Because it is in the NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflamatory) A physician would likely recommend your changing to a different NSAID, one used for more chronic pain.

I have taken every one on the market and had a terrible time with them, every thing from stomach problems to developing a GI bleed. That is why I only need an occasional shot, they work and don't give me a problem. My old Dr. taught my husband how to give me the shots but without the medication I spend many many days with the screaming meemies.I had hoped with all the meds you can get now from an IOP & OP's that I might be able to get that.
If anyone can give me a source or a lead please PM me, I'll give you my first born, dance at your wedding, name it it's yours. Thanks everyone for your help & input, Debi

I had taken this just after my surgury while I was in the hospital by injections and after in pill form for 30 days. The doc prescribed this in conjunction with a stronger med, percocet. The toladols I believe as explained to me are antinflamitories that take just the edge off pain. I doubt ops would prescribe them. They are not that heavy duty, so couldn't you just get a script from your doc?

After my last surgery I was given toradol inj and they are fantastic pain relievers without any loopy feeling just pure pain relief, then was prescribed a whopping 10 pills with one refill because my doctor said they are highly addictive. But my Doc would probably say that about any pain reliever. Way back when curepharma was in biz they sold both inj and pills but they are long gone, but I thought I have seen the pill form somewhere and if I come accross it I will return and post the site.

I was never told it was addictive I was given the script, I had to look at the bottle, yep 30 of them. I really did not think it was that effective for pain in my case. The percocets helped with the pain tremendously. I would have been in agony if they just gave me Toradol.

Toradol is not addictive. The reason that it's only prescribed for up to 5 days at a time is that the side effects of the drug can be severe and they get worse, the longer you use the drug. You can get the pill form at most Pharmacies (I carry it), but I have never seen it used for ongoing treatment.
Hope this helps

While browsing I noticed Jupiterpharmacy.com had Torodal injectable. Don't know anything else about this IOP since I had never heard of it before.

Tordol (Ketorolac) a non-opioid analgesic. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory used for short term management of pain, not to exceed 5 days total for all routes. Mostly metabolized by the kidneys 92% and by the liver 50%.Should not be used with asprin or other n-saids. Ultram (Tramadol) is a centrally acting analgesic. It binds to mu-opiod receptors. Mostly metabolized by the liver and small amount by the kidneys. Dosage starting at 25mg or 50mg slowly increasing up to 50-100mg every 4-6 hours not to exceed 800mg per 24hr period. Onset is 1 hour, peak is 2-3 hour, and duration is 4-6 hours.Ultram is not recommended in patients who are dependent on opioids. It can be addictive with withdrawal properties, do not stop abruptly. It does break down in the urine to show morphine like properties. It can be abused and cause overdose and respiratory depression like opiates. Hope this helps, take care.
