I hope this is the right place to post my question.
I have been offered a job, and I have to take a drug test next week as a condition of employment.
But I currently take Nurofen+ or Tramadol for pain relief. Does anybody know if these drugs would make me fail a drug test? Any personal experiences? Any idea how long I would have to do without to get them out of my system if need be?
FYI I am not a heavy user. I take 50-100 mg of Tramadol a day or 4-8 Nurofen+ (51-102 mg codeine). I like to alternate them trying not to build up a tolerance or addiction to either.

stop taking nurfen + ASAP. It will be detected in the basic 5 pannel test. It will take about 3- 5 days to clear your system.

What is a basic 5 panel test ? You said codeine will show up, so does that mean that hydro will too ? Thanks.

The basic 5 panel test also known as the NIDA 5 tests for Cannibinoids, Opiates, Amphetamines, PCP, and Cocaine...
The opiates part will pick up opium, codeine, heroin, and morphine --- basically anything that breaks down into morphine... All of the other opiods will not show on the standard NIDA 5 test... Hydrocodone and Oxycodone are two examples that won't show up.

Nurofen was detected as Equagesic (sp?) in my lab work. The dr. said she didn't think they made that anymore. I said I never heard of it. And she said it had to be a lab mistake. And that was the end of that. HA! Flavia

Thanks for the info. Are you sure the tramadol wont show up tho? I'm nervous about taking anything, but I'm also in pain

tramadol absolutely will not show up, not even in extended test. tramadol isnt even the slightest bit similar to any opiates or semisynthetic opioids (see my avatar). there isnt a drugtest in the world that looks for tramadol. codeine metabolizes to morphine, as does herion, and will test you positive for "narcotics"

I can tell you for sure that hydro will NOT show up on the drug test under opiates. Just took the 5 panel test and it can back negative for opiates. I have been taking about 40 to 50mg hydro for a long time and also took my meds the day of the test and sample was given about 2:30pm.
I also have an opinion I would like to post. With all the media around the increasing number of cases of pain relivers such as vicodin etc. being abused and overdosed I think that it will be added to the drug test very soon. It's just my opinion, as I have not heard anything about it being added.

Then they are not doing just the basic NIDA 5 drug test... It is chemically impossible.

I still have a copy of the lab order at work. I will check it tomorrow and post what the exact wording is. I KNOW for sure that it said something with the #5. Curious. I'll post tomorrow.

As it turns out, I dont have to take the test anyways, the offer was withdrawn
But, since I am looking for work, I'd like to stay away from any "opiate" drugs, could you tell me if Darvon would test positive?

I have to take a drug test on thursday for a interview process and was wondering if Oxycodone and Hydo will show up, I took vicodin es and oxycodone for dental pain I took them yesterday and 1 today. Thanks in advance for the responses.

Regardless of whether the drug test you take screens for oxy or hydro, it doesn't matter as long as you have a precription for those meds.
I assume your dentist prescribed them. If so, you're ok.
Chances are though, they don't test for those. I work for a large, well-known company and was tested before being hired. I take huge amounts of hydro and was a little anxious about it. But I never heard anything from them. And I KNOW if they tested for hydro, mine would have come out positive.

Yes, please post it. I am currently on federal probation for being an idiot a few years ago and I take the 5 panel drug test weekly. I also have been on hydrocodone now for about 3 months for a work related injury. I do not list it as a med that I am taking because it isn't prescribed to me. I studied up before taking the test.

I gotta admit tho, I feel "dirty" for worryin about passing a drug test at my age. Like some sort of pot head or something /sigh.

Ok, I am sure this is a redundant question but I need to ask again and to re state my question.
I have an interview and I also have to go and see my Probation Officier tomorrow. I have to take a test for my PO and job to. I took Vicodin ES and am still on it, and I also took 6 oxycodone pills, within the last week. Will I test positive for both of these drugs? I am only really worried about my PO drug test really. I have all the documentation for the vicodin since my dentist gave it to me, but I do not have documentation for the oxycodone I guess that is generic for peracet, I had them left over from a while ago and the took them to see if the pain would get better. Last time I took my test I was on norco and I had taken about 10 in a weeks time and also took 1 that morning before my test, well it come up negative or at least she said i was fine, and that I would have to have had 600mg of it in my system in order for it to be positive. But I am just scared about the Oxycodone, any suggestions? THanks

They sell Toxin cleaners at certain heath Stores and Head shops. Its around $25.00 a bottle but the work pretty good.
Just dont take anything 36 hours before your test, and drink the stuff like 2 or 3 hours before your test and it lasts like 5 hours. Oh yeah, Pisss like crazy too. The stuff always worked for me. I had to take pisss tests for probation and never had dirty urine. Like I said It worked for me, I'm not guaranting any thing but the Toxin cleaners guarantee it. Double your money back if you can prove you failed the test. Good Luck Man.......

Thanks for the advice, I postponed my PO visit until next thursday and I so I am in the clear, although I have all the paperwork for my vicodin I am still nervous. Thanks again.
