Hello,
I know that fedex will sometimes deliver a 2-day pack in 1-day during the normal business week. My question is..... Has anyone ever had a delivery on Saturday (day-1) with a planned delivery date of the following Monday(day-2)?
I have a tracking number and it will arrive in my area tonight. I am wondering if they put the packages on the truck on Saturday or is Saturday a whole different class?? I did NOT pay for Saturday delivery. I paid the normal overnight standard.
Thanks for your help

I am no expert Cloudy, but I don't think so. Saturdays are a whole different thing. I did pay Saturday rates for tomorrow, (Fedex) so let me know if you receive your package! I am sending good wishes your way.

I'm not certain, but I think you have to pay for Saturday delivery in order to receive the package on a Saturday, whether the package is in their distribution center or not. I don't think they want to deliver any more parcels than they absolutely have to on a weekend. I guess you'll find out soon though.

FedEx standard overnight delivery is always the next day except for an order placed on a Friday, which woud be delivered on Monday. You always have to special request Saturday delivery and that costs extra. But maybe you'll get lucky and get it tomorrow!

I have never heard of an early delivery that involved a Saturday. However, I do know from experience that if your package is in their hub on Saturday - you can pick it up there even though it is not scheduled for delivery until Monday. If you live close by and want to get it just call ahead and they will have it ready for you. This is a great way to get around those ridiculous Saturday delivery cost.

On one of my very first OP orders, Fedex did a Saturday delivery when I expected it on Monday. I had not requested an early delivery. The package had a big sticker on it that said "URGENT: MEDICATION" and the driver said, by way of explanation, that that's why they bumped it forward a day.
That's the only time that's ever happened to me, but yes it can happen.
That's also the only time I've ever seen a package from an OP with an URGENT sticker like that. (The med was Viagra, if memory serves, so probably it was actually URGENT that I receive it early!)

Thanks everyone for the response!! I knew you would all have some insight. The funny thing is, I wasnt even thinking about it...just knew it would be Monday and then the lightbulb went on when I remembered the early deliveries! LOL Well, maybe the fedex gods will be on my side tomorrow
Too bad it isnt ups. The last time that driver was here, I gave him a bunch of scratch tickets for being so nice
I havent got to "grease" the fedex guy yet, I always miss him and have to go to the hub to get the package. Thats one thing with him, very erratic times. He shows up anywhere from 1pm to 5pm. He used to be right around 3:30 everyday.
thanks again

If your hub is open on Saturday, you should be able to go get it with no problem. Once your tracking number becomes active tonight, you can call the 800 # and tell them to hold at hub for pick-up and they will relay the message and you won't have any problems getting it tomorrow, as long as your hub is open, some are not on Saturday...YOu can look yours up by zip code on the Fed ex website. Hope this helps! I have done this!

I wouldn't say you should be able to get it with "no problem", it VERY MUCH depends on the hub, and how the packages get sorted. Sometimes it just arrives at the hub in a container, and doesn't even get opened for sorting. If you call CS they will tell you it's impossible to get to, but if you show up at the hub with your tracking number, there's a definite chance you could get it, but it's not for sure. I've tried with no luck in the past, and was told it's in a locked container, and the workers at my hub are very typically accomodating to "walk-ins", so if it was accessable they would have no problem getting it. SO...it's worth a try but not a sure thing.

Isn't fedex delivery guaranteed by 3:30? I thought it was, and it was UPS who delivers later, part of why I prefer fedex!

partial update... The tracking page at fedex has the package status "package in fedex location". So they do NOT put the "regular" packages on the delivery trucks on Saturday. Most of you know that but I figured I would add.
I didnt even try to go get it....YET LOL I just woke up!! I know my particular hub is open today. So, if I get out of this lazy mood and feel like "begging" fedex for my package, I'll let you know how it goes.

oh yeah...the ? about fedex delivering by 3:30? I dont know why, but I have seen it state on the tracking page "by 7:00" lately. Maybe its a different type of service???

Fed EX Saver has two time restrictions. One for business and one for residential.
If it is a Fed Ex Next Day Saver to a business , than it can should anywhere up to 3:00pm. Mine mostly arrive by noon.
If it is a Fed Ex Next Day Saver for a residence, than all bets are off. I've heard, by 7:00 pm,or 10:00PM. Take you're choice. I know in my neighbothood those trucks can be seen driving around all hours of the evening. Guess they can't go back until it's empty.
Best Regards,,

I had the same issue before , waiting on a package that was there late friday night but at the hub and 2 day delivery, they told me sat delivery was a different thing and it would be shipped out monday, as far as coming to the hub to get it they have always told me it was in a larger tub and they can't break it down to retreive one package and that I would have to wait until monday delivery. Hope you have better luck!

Based on past experience, both mine and other's, picking up a package on Saturdays is hit-or-miss. Last month, I was heading out of town and wouldn't be home on that Monday so I drove to the hub on Saturday and asked them (using my best nice-gal voice and puppy dog eyes just like mama taught me) to please help me out.
I was expecting to get turned down, but they actually broke down a pallet and found my package. After signing, I asked for their district manager's name and address and sent him a note praising his hub staff for being so helpful.
It won't work at all hubs, but it never hurts to try and being extra-nice usually helps. Plus, folks tell me small town hubs are often more willing to do this than the big ones.

Maybe that's why picking up on a Saturday in my area is not a problem. We are a rural community and the hub is definately small (by Fedex standards).

gottadoit, I bet it does help living in a smaller community since everyone knows one another and gossip is more popular (and entertaining) than high school football.

Hey Cloudy,
Did you take that jaunt down the the hub and ask for your package?
I hope you're not like me and wait until I'm pretty much out before reordering. I like my holidays Planned much better than unplanned (or procrastinated) and waiting for the truck all day.

No, I never went. I figured I can wait until tomorrow.
The package wasnt supposed to be shipped until Monday originally. So when I saw that it was already moving, I wanted to find out what the saturday rules were. Oh well, at least I know for future reference, if I ever run into it again.

Just to let you all know I had a package delivered to me on a Saturday that was just regular overnight about 2 months ago. It was a pleasant surprise, I thought it was going to be a rough weekend. However, then I had hoped it would happen again and it didn't, so I would never count on it, but it is always possible....sometimes you just never know.

What time I opted for the 2 day saver, it arrived at my Fedex location on Sat. was not scheduled for delivery until Monday. Called 800number asked if I can pick it up and they said SURE! I picked it up with no problem....
I paid for 2 day, I picked it up next day on a Saturday no less. I was quite happy!
