United Tracking
      #134213 - 02/04/04 06:18 PM

I'm expecting a package for delivery tomorrow from United for a med I haven't had to refill for a while (the script hasn't expired though). It was hopefully shipped today. It's now 9:15 PM and I can't seem to track it with the refence number. I'm using my last name plus my zip code, and a bunch of other combinations I've tried- but it doesn't work.

Can anyone tell me what time their United packages seem to first scan? I'm using a new credit card, and I had called them earlier in the day to see if there had been problems with it- she told me if there were, I'd have been contacted by their billing department- and they never called me. So hopefully it did ship...It just seems a bit late for the reference number not to work?

Any ideas? When does your United tracking start to show up (best guess)?

Welp, now it's 10:30. My credit card hasn't been charged either.

Really disappointed in United, called twice, promises both times.

I am really getting sick of mail-order pharmacies, I've never had one pharmacy who came through consistently all the time except for Apothesys a while ago. Don't even know how they are now. All the rest of promised they would ship that day and didn't at least once. And I've been around the block with OP's, it's just annoying.

I just don't understand why they can't be more efficient- all of them- what is so hard about filling it (I called in the morning) so I could get it the next day, or so I thought. It's like they don't even care, there's always an excuse. And please, no one say "well that's why the refill time period is 23-27 days, to allow for this." That makes no difference to me, if I am promised something, I want it. This is why I do the refill the first day I'm allowed because of these shipping problems.

Ah well- tomorrow's going to be really aggravating, unless a miracle happens. Thanks for the venting space.

When you say your card hasn't been charged yet, did you talk to a CS rep at the card company who can check for all manual and electronic pre-authorizations that may not show up yet on the VRU or on-line banking you may be using? If so, I feel bad for you Yaw....

I was counting on a different pharmacy recently that also let me down big time and led to a miserable day and me switching OPs. But like you said, no one seems to be consistent. I've since decided to make an "in case of emergency, break glass" kit in the event of future shipping problems.

Good luck with United....they sound so good with their THEORETICAL 23 day refill policy....

UPS is never consistent. United almost always is. I've looked for tracking information until 2:00 a.m. and it shows up the next morning sometimes. You can almost always count on United. If the transfer took place today before 1 or 2 p.m., chances are fair to good they were shipped out.

Yawkaw, I just got a refill from United and my tracking # didn't work until the day of delivery!! It was driving me crazy - I think it's UPS, I way prefer Fed Ex over UPS. I finally called United to verify it was shipped since the tracking # didn't work, they answered on the first ring and were very nice - might just want to call.

Welp, looks like United didn't come through after all...

I called them at 10:00 in the morning yesterday, no reason this should've happened. When I called my credit card company, I did speak to a CSR who said there was no record of a hold or any charges. United didn't even try to charge it, as I found out this morning- they of course have no explanation.

It's like getting mad at a wall, the only thing I can do is hope they'll ship it today.

Yeah, I know- they assure me it's been processed today and I'll receive tomorrow- though they did say the same thing yesterday...

Sorry you are having problems. I am 2 for 2 with United. Recieved my meds as promised the following day. They have never sent me a tracking number though. I have to track my package with the reference number your-- ie. Your last name and shipping zip. Usually shows up in the UPS system after 9pm central time. Hope you get your package soon Yawkaw.

I'm 3 for 3 with United. Never been sent a tracking number though. I think this is because United services several OPs with hundreds, if not thousands of orders going out each day. It is dead easy to the tech to slip up and put in the wrong tracking number to a post. So, they have streamlined it by not sending tracking numbers, but you can still track with the last name and zip combination. UPS is going to ground of late. I've got an order in with my online cigarette's place and even though UPS shows they have received the billing info, there is no sign of my cigarettes. I called the cigarette's place and they tell me it will be here on the 10th. I checked the UPS site again this morning, and still nothing.

Don't know why United messed up your order though. They are usually very reliable and have helped me a couple of times with my orders. Maybe you should ask to speak to someone higher up the CS chain there. Maybe that will shakes something loose for you.

Thanks for your concern guys. I did get it today, just a day late. The UPS tracking number starting working between 6 and 7 last night, and I got lucky with the snow in my area- didn't affect the delivery at all. United had no explanation for it, but my guess is the displaced YOD'ers are making people busy? Dunno, but got everything today and on time. I've never received tracking numbers by the way, I always use the UPS Reference Number trick, but that gets frustrating when something goes wrong- that's why I like to receive a tracking number via email because to me it's like proof that they did process it in some fashion that day.

D2003,
One time I was out of smokes and was dying so I lit up a Norco. Couldn't get the Best if kept off the board thing lit . What a waste. FYI , don't use you pain meds to smoke. Hope the reservation got them out or the guy's at UPS are splitting up the cartons now as we speak.
Best Regars,
Hoop

Smokes arrived while I was out shopping. I did check the UPS site, and there is still no indication that the order was even shipped. Still says Billing Info Received. And that is all. I did speak to both UPS and my smokes company this morning, and the cigarette place assured me it had been shipped because the wearehouse is emptied down to bare concrete every afternoon at 3pm.

UPS in the other hand, couldn't give me any explanation as to why there was no shipping info whatsoever on the site. (Not on their web site or their own computer system!) At some point, someone has to scan the package. I thought that is how things went so THEY would know where someone package was at any one time. If I could find a place as cheap that uses Fedex, I'd change in a flash, but that is not an option. I did tell the rep at the cigarette place they should swap over to Fedex, at least they deliver. Was told they were talking to Fedex but it may be several months more before anything solid is locked into place.

At least I got them today...in addition to the extra carton I picked up while shopping. Been noticing that UPS is slipping more and more lately....and this may be an indication of worse things to come. Is is possible that the Brown is going down??

Hey D2003 ,
Great you got you're smokes. I don't think UPS is going down. I think the opposite. They just purchased mail boxes etc. And they are growing. I think all that is happening is just plain old growing pains. Hopefully , within 6 months they will have all of this ironed out.
I had a friend I grew up with whose Dad was a UPS exec. and they were a very well run company. He worked in the transportation dept. And he told us to what lengths they went to keep these truck maintained. I was amazed. Anyway, whenever he talked shop , he always made it sound as if UPS was solidly planted and here to stay. So I think nothing has changed. Maybe the competition. So I Think they'll be around for a long time to come. Just my opinion.
Best Regards,
Hoop

On very rare occaisions, I have received tracking information for my package from United. Actually, it came via something called QuantumViewNotify from UPS itself. Why they do it for a very select few of my orders, but not every one, I don't know. After all, with technology the way it is these days you'd think it could almost be automatic and therefore kinda easy to provide customers everytime out. These notes not only contain a link to the UPS tracking page but also list the shipping address. It happened to be handy right then as I found that my package was going to an alternate address I use sometimes instead of having it held at the hub and avoided a real headache. So while United's good ol' name+zip reference number tracking system is certainly serviceable, it would be great if United would make sure that every order got the QuantumViewNotify treatment.
