Another reason to stay home today and watch TV.

That and the near-foot of snow piling up in the street outside my window.

Oh Gawd! Did you guys see the first show? It turned my stomach. I guess I'll watch today's show with my hands over my eyes. It's kinda like watching a train wreck.

I figure she might as well grab some xanax-she is on her way back to the addiction. She will not even admit that she has a problem-even said she thought she was "home free". She is definitely in a dry drunk-I feel for her.

LOL

I needed a xanax and some pepto biz after watching that one.

Tater is right. I was yelling at the tv, telling her she could have a few of mine if she would just stop her whining.

I didn't watch the show - after the first one I just couldn't. I was so angry after the first show, knowing that the first guest detoxed with suboxone, but Oprah would not allow her to discuss that just made me furious. I suppose it just wasn't a ratings grabber. I lost every once of respect for Oprah after that and just can't stomach a bunch of bs from her again! From what I've just read here - it's a good thing I didn't watch!

I was just alittle confused by the show. I kept hearing Oprah say pain pill addiction, but I thought the woman's drug of choice was xanax. Also, what was the deal about her kids. They had said they wanted their fun, nice Mommy back, but the woman said she had been abusing prescription drugs for 20 years. That time would encompass their whole lives. So the mom they had always known was one on xanax. I was just alittle confused. If someone understood it alittle better, please explain. Maybe I'm just being dense here.

About the kids impressions, she said she previously lived in MN when they were younger and was super involved in PTA, etc. But then when they moved to Chicago, she left the kids to their own devices since they were in public school and she figured the school would do enough for them, etc. And at this point (I guess the last few years) she has taken more to bed, not gone out to eat with them, etc. So to me it seemed that even though she used for 20 years, her behavior deteriorated. One wonders what kind of society we live in that actually allows someone to go to bed for 20 years on Xanax and still live. What individual or agency sent her a check every month ? Or how on Earth did the father of those kids stand for that ? Now, I don't watch this kind of tripe, let alone Oprah, all that often, but this thread at least caught my eye...

I couls have sworn that when this woman was on the first show she was talking about taking opiates for her headaches. Then on the update show she only spoke of xanax. What gives?

I found this lady to be SOOOOOOOOOO annoying. Seriously. Yes I do think that she initially went on the Oprah show just because it was the "Oprah" Show. I do bot think she ever really intended to delve as deep into her problem as she actually did.

Now does that make me feel bad for ger, um no not really. I wanted to grab her bands and chop them off so they would not keep going into her eyes and I then wanted to yell "hey lady, you asked for all of this by coming on the oprah show and acting like such a gosh darn snob. I mean it was very obvious that she did have some sort of problem, but it was so hard to decipher between the several issues she apparently is dealing with. I just do not think she is a happy person and I am not sure if being on meds or being bum rushed into going off of them has much to do with that. She just came accross as pretty selfish.

Oh yea, and the ever so clueless husband. I really thought he was just as pathetic. I mean 20 years without a clue. Oh wait a minute, I do remember him saying that the thought of her drug abuse HAD crossed his mind a time or two but that was as far as it went.

Then to top it off, her poor overweight friend did seem to be sincere to me yet she was the one that got dissed the hardest. She was being a good friend yet Oprah barely touched on the fact that this friend had purposely been avoided after attempting to be there for her friend. I think this was another place that the xananx woman showed how conceited she was. It was almost as if she felt she was "to good" for any of the people in her life.

Sorry for the rambling here, but I just found her to be so pathetic. Ih gosh and when Oprah said that they would be following up on her story I swear to God I think she literally dropped a load. This came as such a surprise to her which is another obvious clue that she is going to start taking her meds as soon as possible.

Lastly, if she had migraines why would she ne prescribed only xanax? I mean did any of you see that bag of hers that carried ALL OF THOSE PILLS? That reminds me of one other thing. Well when I watched the show it was on Tivo so I was able to pause the spot where she opened up her case and there laid all of those prescription bottles. Two of the bottles that I could make out had similar labels on them. I am kicking myself now for not writing them down as I wanted to ask all of you if this was a label from one of the OP's.

Darn it. Well if anyone else saw that please let me know if they recognized that label. I am so curious as she never really mentioned and Oprah never really asked, where she got the meds from (Thank GOD though! That woudl have made her story that much more irritating if she brought any of the OP's into it. But you have to really wonder about her meds, where did she get them all? And even weirder why didn't they talk about where she got them?

Flea, I am right with you! She was soooooo annoying!! I saw the first show also and thought she was abusing pain meds for her headaches, like the other women were, not Xanax. What was it about her? It's like she didn't want to be there at all. On the first show, Oprah asked her if she thought she was addicted, and she sat there for what seemed like 5 minutes and shook her head. It's like, ok, you know you are if you are sitting here on Oprah, and don't write in if you are going to sit and stutter when asked questions. She obviously isn't happy with her life, and they really didn't touch on the "reason" why she is unhappy. I just had to say how much she irritated me also. The husband was so out of the loop. But did you see Dr. Phil the day before about the stay at home mom addicted to vicodin? That husband took his wife a pill while she was in detox. Said someone stole her methadone, yeah right. They DID show that lady and the husband looking at op's on the internet commenting on the prices and how they have gone up. That husband just wanted to keep her happy. Said they spend like $700 a month on her pills. Anyway, that girl on Oprah was a mess!!

I THOUGHT I SAW A *NIT*D PRESCRIPTION S**VICE BOTTLE WHEN I SAW A LITTLE PART OF THAT SHOW. THATS WHY THEY HAVE QUICK BENZO DETOXES THEY FIRST HAVE YOU STAY IN A CLINIC FOR 24 HRS WITHOUT BENZOS (THEY GIVE YOU ANTI-SEIZURE MEDS AND RIGHT BEFORE THE WITHDRAWL START TO GET REALLY BAD THEY PUT YOU UNDER FOR 48 HRS. AND USE A ANTI-SEIZ.MED.(MONITOR YOUR HEART RATE ,BLOOD PREASURE ,ETC...) THEN WHEN YOU AWAKE THEY GIVE YOU A SEDATIVE (NON-BENZO) AND YOU STAY IN THE DETOX CLINIC FOR ANOTHER SIX DAYS AND ATTEND CLASSES ON DRUG(BENZO) ADDICTION AND AFTER THE 8 DAYS IS UP THEY LET YOU GO HOME WITH ANTI-SEIZURE MED LIKE TEGRETAL AND A WEEKS WORTH OF NON-BENZO SLEEP MEDICATION -AT LEAST THATS WHAT THEY DID FOR MY BEST FRIEND WHO HAD BEEN TAKING ATIVAN 2MGS 6 TIMES A DAY FOR SEVEN YEARS. WITHOUT THE ANESTETIC FOR 48 HRS HE WOULD OF WANTED TO DIE. AND TO THIS DAY HE HAS NOT TOUCHED A BENZO (I THINK THAT 24 HRS BEFORE YOUR PUT UNDER AND YOU START TO GET THE WITHDRAWLS -IS WHAT TEACHES YOU TONEVER TOUCH THE BENZO'S AGAIN! (IT ONLY COST $4,300.00 IF YOU DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE -BUT IT BEATS A LIFETIME OF BEING CHAINED DOWN TO TAKING A MEDICATION ALL DAY LONG AND HAVING TO GO TO ER'S IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO GET BENZO'S WHEN YOUR INT OP ORDERS HAVE NOT ARRIVED OR YOU USED ALL THE ONES YOU GOT FROM THE U.S. CONSULT!) THATS WHY I WON'T TAKE ANY BENZO FOR MORE THAN 10 DAYS IN A ROW (NO-MATTER HOW BAD I CAN NOT SLEEP - I WILL TAKE A SOMA OR A PHENOBARBITAL!) BUT NEVER LONGER THAN 10 DAYS IN A ROW! GOOD LUCK, AND BE SAFE! CHEESE
