I have worked in the hospital arena for 25 years plus so I have some experience here. Everybody is different! What works for one person may not work for another. The Perc10's are only 2 regular 5 mg percocets with a smaller amount of tylenol. Whatever your wife is taking if she is not getting sufficient relief it could be do to a number of things. Very little info in your post so I will just respond to the initial question. turcica. Good luck.

Hi gage, how've you been?
Percocet 10/325 is stronger than Lortab 10/500 for most people. I know I would take oxycodone over hydrocodone any day. For me, oxycodone has a "cleaner" feel to it; less nausea, equal sedation, and more pain relief. In my experience, I build up a tolerance to hydrocodone more quickly than oxycodone. Both good drugs though, and we're all different. Keep in mind that you can't get on refills on a CII like Percocet, so picking up a script or having a doctor's visit every month may be an issue; whereas with Lortab she can get refills on the script and have new ones called in.
Take care, PM me any time you need.

Hi Gage~
See, now everyone IS different! I prefer Lortab to Percocet. I dunno, Percs make me feel weird, well, weirder than I already am. Can't quite put my finger on it, though. I agree with the other posters in that everyone's body chemistry is different- what works for one...etc.
Yawkaw made a good point in noting that Percocet is a Class II drug and a bit harder to obtain than Lortab. Whatever your wife finds gives her the best relief, however, should be the ultimate choice. Sorry to hear she's in pain.

You're asking to compare apples to oranges here.
It completely depends on your body chemistry. If I'm in pain, give me percocet any day over hydro.

thanks everyone for the info., my wife isnt getting the pain releif she needs with the lortab10's, she has neck and backpain aloung with headaches(from the neck injury)
her friend was telling her about the percocet10's and suggested she switch to her doc.instead of useing a op again
i think shes gonna try her doc. next time once she uses up her refills//
ive taken them before but couldnt remember how they compared
to lortab 10's// i do remember takeing percodan and getting plenty of releif with it// im sure they both must be about the same//
anyway she needs something diff.cause her pain seems to be
getting worse even with the lortabs/
hope this answered more clearly//
thanks again for all the replys and info. gage

From what I've read, 10mg of oxycodone is approximately equal to 15mg of hydrocodone.

Oxy makes me puke, hydro doesn't. Maybe I have a sensitive stomach.

they are supposed to be somewhat stronger, just a bit by I think 1.5 the strength, but i never find much difference in a 10mg oxycodone adn 10 mg hydrocodone.

In the "everybody is different" department, I found that all percocet accomplished for me was severe nausea. Actually, it kinda took the form of a really old joke. The doctor asked me if the percocet alleviated the pain, and I told him that with the nausea it caused I never even noticed the pain. Think that's not funny now? It certainly wasn't funny then. They made me so sick that I flushed them. Big mistake. The doctor wouldn't give me a script for another pain med unless I returned the unused pills! Luck for me it was only a two week supply. In the long run, Lortab has worked much better. Why percocet is considered schedule II is beyond me.

My DR told me that percoset tends to be more effective on "organ" type pain, IE... post op pain, burns, etc, where-as hydro is supposedly more effective for muscular skeletal pain, fractures, spasms, joints.
personally, I think it's more about what happens to work for the individual. I know if I'm having a serious flare-up in pain (above the normal everyday chronic pain) the percs seem to attack the acute pain and give me longer lasting relief.
