And I am curious about what it is. Is it a benzo like Ativan or Xanax, and if so, how does it compare? Thanks

Hi eel,

Clonazepam (Klonopin) lasts a lot longer than Xanax or Ativan- like 10-12 hours. Takes longer to come on, IMO not as effective for sudden anxiety. But it is a benzo, and if you need to be on them, it works and isn't very difficult to get. Cheap as well.

For me that's exactly what I don't like about Klonopin, it makes me feel fuzzy and doped-up long after I feel like the effects should have worn off. And it's a tough feeling to shake.

It does have it's uses, though. I think it's used pretty often in detox situations, or so I have heard.

I couldn't agree with you more on that. My doctor took me off of my xanax a few months ago and put me on Klonopin. I hate it. It works great for my anxiety on the weekends when I don't have to get up the next day and go to work, but I can honestly not function too well. I went back to my doctor and complained about it and he switched me back to the xanax(lower dosage) This was about a year ago and I have since switched jobs and lost insurance, so when the sites started popping up offering the klonopin, I took a chance and tried it again. Well, needless to say, I took it one night and I have just put the bottle away. I cannot take Klonopin and function the next day, it just stays with you too long.

It is used very often in detox situations. Having previously worked in the field of a/d rehab, I have seen it used numerous times. It was usually used in a hospital setting when people were going through withdrawls. After the withdrawls, the individuals were then sent on to drug rehab(in most cases)

I was given Klonopin for my mini-seizures, or twitches as I call them. I'm now out and need to talk to my PCP about getting more until I see a new neuro. I never did notice anything weird about it, but I was on a small dose.

Thanks for the answers everybody!

One more: Then xanax or Ativan should work for W/D also, or is it better to go with the Clonazepam?

For those times when the OP fails to deliver

I ordered kpan from medicationcity on 12/17 and still have not received! They keep telling me that everything has been approved, but it has been at the pharmacy since 12/20?!?! I tried to cancel the order and told them that their service leaves a lot to be desired and that there is too much competition for me to wait that long for my order. This place stinks! anyway, I ordered 2 mg, maybe that is too high for me? I have never taken it before, but I have been taking xanax for about 2 years (about 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 mg per day) do you guys think that this is too strong? I hate that dopey feeling from any med. Thanks, Anglwink

Hadda put my 2 cents in on this one.I belive the 1 mg to be more than sufficient and although im not on any maintenance benzo i have something of a tolerance to pharmacuticals. Here is why i dont like Klonopin...it affects me very strange..at fairly low dose i find myself in a blackout ..which is like you are doing and saying things but wont really remember..this only happens to me on Klon not anything else.I wonder if anyone else has had this happen to them on this med or is it just me.Its not a good feeling ill tell you that and the effect lasts a longggg time.

You know this was almost 4 years ago, so I just don't remember! I know it wasn't a lot, and I do remember discussing it with my doc at the time, and he switched me to Xanax. Alprazolam is much better suited to my metabolism. Or Ativan.

And for no particular reason I dislike Valium.

Katiehlvr1,
Obviously this thread has been taken over with info about the drug, rather than sites (I'm not complaining, as this is the info I was looking for anyway). May I suggest that you start another thread with a more specific heading like: Clonazepam sites? or K-pin sites? or something similar? Hopefully you will get a better response. I have also ordered from Medicationcity (a related site), was approved last Tues. and no activity since. I just IMed customer service stating that I and others would like to know what the problem is. They said that because of the holidays and the large amounts of orders that the pharmacy is "running a couple of days behind". If anyone receives their order, could you please let us all know? If there is no activity in the next few days I will regretfully cancel.
Angelwink, you said you TRIED to cancel?? What was the result?
Thanks all.
D
BTW-- It was $63 Total for 90 2mg. But, that doesn't mean anything if they don't deliver.

You're absolutely right, Whatsnew, we have drifted off topic!

But you know actually a thread asking for lists of Klonopin sources probably belongs in the Who Offers It, How Much forum. And there doesn't seem to be an up-to-date Klonopin thread there, the MOST RECENT THREAD in Who Offers It dates from October!

There have been a lot of Klonopin mentions recently, mostly in relation to cheap prices at some new-ish OP's. Maybe somebody who is interested could organize some of that info into a Klonopin thread in Who Offers It...... ?

Just a suggestion....

No, you are not the only one. It happened to me the first day that I was on the Klonopin and I put the bottle away. I have had people come up to me in the past few weeks and mention things that I supposedly said, but I honestly don't remember it. So, needless to say I put the bottle away and I will only use it in an emergency situation. So, I am just going to have to deal with a little anxiety until my new insurance kicks in. 17 days to go!

A couple of days behind?!? I placed my order with them on 12/17! I emailed customer service (they are VERY quick with their responses, usually within 15 minutes) and I told them how unhappy I was with their poor shipping time& that there were too many other places that I could order from and told them to cancel my order, CS just ignored that statement totaly and replied again that it was at the pharmacy & to be patient! I ordered on the 17th, order approved by Dr. & credit on the 18th, and they keep telling me that it has been at the pharmacy since then waiting to be filled, and telling me to be patient! I think that I have been more then patient given the time that it has taken them. Its states on the order update that the order was filled on the 20th, so why hasn't it shipped??? As of now 8:06 pm est, it still has not shipped. Please let us know what the cs replies when you hear from them. Anglwink

Sorry to be off topic, but I tried it and it made me dizzy and slightly nauseated. I took 1mg. Is this normal for someone who hasn't taken it before?? Will it go away? I wasn't that impressed with it really, although it helped with my anxiety, it made me feel a little depressed in addition to the aforementioned symptoms.

Just a follow up...Still no meds or answers from medication city regarding the order I placed on 12/17! However, I received an email from our pillpox.com yesterday telling me that they received my money, Dr. aprroved yesterday, and low & behold, I received my meds this morning! 2 days for meds! People, stay away from medicationcity.com! There are to mant other reputable sites like this to get your meds! I did send an email with this info, and again, requested my money back, we will see what happens. Anglwink

That is really odd. They are related sites, you would think that if one delivered (promptly) so would the other. Also, you would think that if you had an outstanding order with one, that you would be denied from the other. Did you order the same med. from both? Thanks.

The amount of Xanaz you are taking is a very large dose. Different benzodiazapines have different half-lives...Xanax having one of the shortest, and Klonopin having a pretty long one. I cannot condemn you for taking as much alprazolam as you do, but I speak from personal experience when I say that people actually get a real addiction and tolerance up at 2.5 or 3.5 milligrams a day, and withdrawing from that or even tapering is hell on Earth. Especially with Xanax, because it is so short acting. Try to taper down over a period of time...substituting a longer acting benzo for a portion of the Xanax...you will be amazed when a mere 1/2 or less of what you are taking works just as well, especially when you get to the point that you don't need it for days at a time. It just takes time, that's all. Excercise and vitamins help. And personally, of all the shorter acting medicines of this type, I find that lorazepam (Ativan) seems to be the most gentle. But then again, Valium makes me grumpy and pugnacious, so I rarely take it...everyone has their own reactions to these pills...

I disagree with you on this. I take that much xanax at night to sleep, have NEVER had withdrawel. however, I was on ativan at one time only for about 2 months, and had a H*** of a withdrawel! Each person chemical make-up is different, so what might be good for you, moght be bad for others. There is no set withdrawel to this argument. Anglwink

Yeah, it is strange that these chemicals affect different people differently, almost as if by personality. Again, I wasn't trying to judge, just offering my 2 cents...

There is a chart out there readily avaliable via Google identifiying all the different benzodiazapines and their supposed durations/ half-lives, but I don't know how accurate it is. But personally, I have found clonazepam to have a really long "hangover" to it the next day. Perhaps this is why Xanax works well as a sleep medication for you with few side effects...you have metabolized a large part of it by the time you wake up. I rarely take benzodiazapines as a sleep aid...it is usually during the daytime for stress and anxiety, so I am still wide awake for when it comes time to "come down" from them.
