Halcion is not a med prescribed for schizophrenia, in fact most PDRs usually state that patients that suffer from type of mental disorder should by all means stay away from benzos, they can intensify the insanity and they don't help the patient stay calm. A schzoid needs a major tranquilizer like Thorazine or most likely Haldol, both these drugs, when taken for a long period of time can cause Parkinson-like symptoms which are permanent in nature. I wouldn't take touch them with a 10 foot pole. There's a newer one call Olapazine, but it's as bad as the others. Halcion (Trizolam) is benzo sleeping med used for normal individuals who for whatever reason are going through a bout of insomnia and need something to help catch-up on their ZZZZs. But it's only a short-term solution to a ever-growing problem that is occurring nationwide, as a nation we not getting enough sleep due to number of factors, the first being STRESS!!, And then there's everything else, so there's nothing wrong with popping a sleep inducing benzo, as long as you are supervised by a medical doctor. I think you got Halcion mixed-up with Haldol, which will knock you off your feet and keep you sedated for days at a time (If you've seen that movie call "12 monkeys" and you watch the scene where Bruce Willis is sedated and has a confused look on his face and saliva drooling from the side of his mouth, that's what a major tranquilizer does). I once took a 5mg tab just for fun and I couldn't get out of bed for 2 days. It just brings on this drowsy tired feeling that no matter what you do (exercise, drink coffee, anything), just doesn't go away, it took exactly two days on the minute until the effects wore-off, you're just are mentally incapacitated, like a zombie. Never again!!! Haldol is bad news.

I know, this was clarified for me earlier. I was confusing Halicon with Haldol. Anglwink

Have you ever tried remeron 15mg at night knocks me out and Im on other sedating meds that do nothing. I was on 30mg remeron but my doctor found that 15 works better for sleep and it will put you to sleep withen about 30 mins. Its an anti-depressant so you should have no trouble getting it prescribed very few side effects as far as I can tell and have been taking it for years.

I bought Halcion from Healthlylifemeds.com one time. It was fairly inexpensive I think around $55.00 for #30

Hi, Suzie. I'm so sorry you're having trouble sleeping. I know how awful that can be; I'm bipolar and when on a manic swing can go days without sleep. My angel of a shrink has me on Zyprexa (an anitpsychotic) to even out my sleep cycle and ensure a good night's rest without feeling foggy the next morning. I'm on 2.5 mg right now, but have been on upwards of 15 mg, depending on how bad the insomnia. I also have a high med tolerance, but have not seemed to build one with the Zyprexa. Hope this helps.
