I have ordered again from Click, it is my 3rd package coming from Thailand. I live in a small town, with a nosy postal service and a drug task force that evidently has a lot of time on their hands because there are crank cooks on about every corner. Anyway, I have tried to research this question and can't find an answer. I ordered a non scheduled med, but if the authorities find out about it, what could they charge me with? I mean is it a felony or misdemenor? It is a prescription drug, but not a scheduled one. Tramadol. How much trouble would my aching arthritic old butt be in if they decided to open the package?

Honestly I would seek out a US based OP for something like Tramedol.. You really are running a risk of seziure or legal problems when trying to import something. I would say it all depends on if they want to make an example of you or not... Some places it would probably not get much attention and others it might cause an uproar.. You just never know until it actually happens.

I think if the order was seized, they would just try to scare you.

It is legal to import up to a 90 day supply of non sceduled medication. As long as it is OTC in the country you bought it from, FDA approved and is up to the FDA standards, it is legal. If it is sceduled however, then it is illegal. This is how all those old folks buy drugs from Canada.

Hmm, sounds like most of Oklahoma. Corrupt cops and meth cooks, anyway I don't think much would happen, but then again i've had cops here try to give me Best if kept off the board for all sorts of random stuff.

This is a wide spread misnomer...and sorry, I'm not a good source on the "legalities" but if you'll do a search via topic or look up Trampy's profile, he sets the record straight on this MANY times on the boards....Trampy, where are ya?

Thanks everyone for your help. I would have thanked you sooner but I have been out of town for a week. And I recieved a couple of comforting p.m's from a couple of fellow Okies which helped.
I don't know why I am so nervous about this. I guess it is because I am uneasy about breaking the law. I keep picturing the face's of my family if I got arrested for this. I cannot use the US online pharmacies though, they are too expensive. I could use my doctor and the pharmacies here but buying from Thailand, when you figure in the doctors fee with the meds, saves me about 80%. That isn't a lot of money by any real means but it certainly eases my situation.
Anyway, thanks abunch for everyones help. Wish me luck.

Actually, you would need an import license in addition to a prescription to legally import meds. I believe the "90 Day Supply Rule" actually refers to a specific # of units/doses of a med & only applies when you physically bring the med into the US, ie. returning from a vacation in Spain or Mexico, etc.
Trampy or BillyI can expand on this much better than I can.

First thing you need to do is see if Tramadol is scheduled in your state. I am not aware of it being scheduled in any state but I would check. It is however a prescription medication and you could be charged with possession of medication without a prescription. Again it depends on your state laws. On the Federal side of the issue, you can not legally import by mail any medication that is already made in the US. Even if it were an FDA approved medication chances are the facility that made the medications are not under control of the FDA and they can not endorse the medication as being safe or even real. You can really only walk across a boarder and declare the meds, mailing is 100 percent illegal. Now if it were a narcotic which it isn't you could only bring 50 dosage units and again would have to declare it at Customs when entering the country. Even then seizures happen or in that case the medications could be confiscated it is up to the agent in charge at the point of entry. Your problem could start because of the country of origin and a nosey postal worker assuming it got past Custom's. I seriously doubt there would be a controlled delivery for Tramadol unless you ordered a quantity that could be misconstrued as if you were going to resell them.
Take care. Billylll

I did find out that they are not scheduled in okla. but are in some other states. I forget now which ones, Penn.is one I think. I never order more than 130. I don't know if that is enough to make anyone think I was a dealer. I really don't know if it is worth the hassle to keep ordering them from IOP's. If I lived in a large city, I figure that the police would have enough to do, rather than harrassing some granny over a non scheduled medication. But here in this small town...it is not so much our police are corrupt as inefficient and sometimes, not terribly bright, and the few who are bright, are ambitious and drug busts look good, doesn't matter that it is addicts or a broke old granny, as long as it says "drugs" somewhere in the newspaper story.
