Hello Pam,
I'm sorry to tell you the obvoius but you MUST go to the doctor or ER. It could be any number of things or nothing of concern. Bell's Palsy is caused by a virus and usually lasts about 2 weeks with treatment, different with each patient.TIA or "Transient Ischemic Attacks" are like tiny strokes that cause numbness in limbs and facial muscles and some patients report temporary loss of vision in one or both eyes.TIA's usually last only about an hour but some last much longer. The bottom line is that when you are experiencing ANY symptoms that are "strokelike" then you should report this to a physician stat.If you do not have a physician available then you should go to the ER immediately. Most Hospitals will provide treatment and allow you to pay through a payment schedule if you are not insured. Don't risk your health due to lack of insurance. It is always better when you are safe rather than sorry. Please don't panic. Like I said, it might be nothing, but you need to know asap.I am NOT a doctor and these are only opinions. We know what they say about opinions, right?!!!

If I could underline everything 54321 stated in his post three times, I would. Now, keep in mind I am the type of person that won't go to the doctor unless something is hanging off & bleeding profusely. (Slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean) Anyway, I have lousy insurance but if I had symptoms like yours I would waste NO time in getting it checked out. Chances are, it's nothing, but if it IS something, don't mess with it! I'll keep you in my prayers that it's no big deal Take care, sweetie, and GO TO A DOCTOR!

If it's not immediate, it's not gratification.

Pam--I sent you a PM, but your not online now---if anyone here know's Pam...please get in touch with her...this sounds like Guillen Barre' Syndrome....an autoimmune disorder that usually begins with symptoms described here....numbness/tingling (or the sensation limbs have fallen asleep) of extremeties that is progressive, facial muscles begin to develop paralysis(the eye drooping) and can progress to respiratory failure due to the diaphragm becoming paralyzed. YOU NEED TO GO TO THE ER NOW!!!
Please...you just can't let the fear of not having insurance keep you from seeking treatment ...paralysis of the diaphragm(the muscle responsible for breathing) usually follows paralysis of facial muscles....and if you progress to this stage, YOU MUST BE PLACED ON A VENTILATOR....you cannot breath with a paralyzed diaphragm.
This is the explanation in the merk manual (the Medical BIBLE)
Guillen Barre' Syndrome A rare neurological illness, affecting 1 -2 persons per 100,000, marked by an ascending paralysis. The loss of motor function begins in the extremeties and may quickly rise to include the respiratory muscles, causing respiratory failure. The loss of motor function can occur in a few days to 2-4 weeks. Pain in the hips, thighs and BACK are COMMONLY experienced. It most frequently occurs in young to middle aged adults (although has been evidenced in all age groups.
PLEASE PROMISE YOU WILL BE SEEN IMMEDIATELY!! If you know Pam, PLEASE CALL HER!
It could be many other things....some serious, some not...and although Guillen Barre' Syndrome is rare, I have treated 5 patients with it over a five year period in the ICU setting....that's in one city...so remember the population of the US....IT HAPPENS....I hope & pray this is nothing...BUT PLEASE GO NOW
