Can anyone tell me if they personally have tried both Darvon 65 and hydro 7.5? I know the hydro helps with pain but does the Darvon really help pain?

It does, But if you have any kind of tolerance, you will need to take quite a bit. I know a couple years ago when I had some darvocets before my tolerance got to where it is now. It took about 500mg to really help. Its about the same strength as a Asprin used to be for me.

I have a feeling this will be moved to another forum but for what it's worth here is my opinion.
Both Darvon and Hydrocodone are effective pain relievers. Both meds loose potency when taken over a long time.
In my opinion hydro is much better but after awhile hydro doesnt work for me as it did before so it helps to switch from one to the other.
The difference between Darvon And Hydrocodone is Darvon is not a true opiate but will relieve withdrawal of opiates similar to methadone. When switching to Darvon from Hydro expect some depression and diarrhea for a couple days. Keep some Imodium or better yet Lomotil on hand.
I think both are helped a lot by mixing with Tylenol, aspirin, or the best for my condition is Ibuprophen.
Take care.

Here's my opinion, based on going through numerous bottles of both meds,
darvon works a little, but not better than tramadol, in fact I think tramadol is better for me. The prep that it comes in here, generic propoxyphene with apap now hurts my stomach very much to more than a little bit of a pill. It feels like a stimulant to me, and makes alcohol not make me drunk. I get a headache from it sometimes.
Lortab works ok as a pain killer, definitely better than darvon by far. More like a traditional opiate high definitely, euphoric, alcohol's effects increased. But I think its garbage compared to percocet, at least for me. I don't even like the euphoria from it, kinda annoying. But better than the stimulant Best if kept off the board darvon.

A friend of mine, who has been taking the 5/500 for quite a long time, had knee surgery a couple of weeks ago. Of course, the surgeon prescribed her 30 hydro 5/500 with no refills. I told her she had been taking them so long, it wasn't going to touch her surgery pain and I was right - she was in agony. This surgeon refused to give her any stronger hydro, like Lorcet for instance, but instead gave her Bextra - what a joke that was. Anyway, after much begging he finally gave her some Darvon and we were both surprised it did the trick. Go figure.

Hi booker! I have used both the Darvocet and the Vicoden 7.5/750 and IMO the Darvocet is like taking tylenol. It did nothing for my pain!! But the Vicodin was like a miracle med for me! I am now on Norco 10/325 due to the high amounts I require and the tylenol difference but I would recommend Vicodin(Hydro/Norco) in a heartbeat but never would I personally recommend Darvon/Darvocet. Now I know that everyone is different so I can only comment on my experience but you asked for it and that is my opinion on those 2 meds!!
