I just got back from Mexico on business. While I was there of course I thought I'd "stock up". Come to find out, Mexico stopped manufacturing sch. 2 (percs, etc) meds a year ago. I went to every mom and pop "farmacia" and even had a DR come to my Hotel room to give me a script for my pain. (I had a script from the US with me just in case). DR. said "no pharmacy in Mexico carries Sch 2 meds" A friend of mine went a week later to another part of Mexico (the infamous "boarder town") where he used to get meds and was told the same thing. So anyone who says they have "Mexican sources"...they are "FOS".
Just throwin' it out there....

You often see the schedules designated in Roman numerals: I, II, III, IV etc.
But can anybody tell my why it's often written with a "C"? As in C-I, C-II etc? Sometimes it's Sched.II, but what does that C stand for?

My guess is that "C" is for "Class" in this instance.

My guess is the "C" stands for "controlled" or "Controlled Substance Act Schedule"...
See this...
Don't know for sure, tho!

The post above is a total mystery to me. Mexico has always had very srong legislation regarding controlled substances. However their form of enforcement has frequently been more flexible than the US - a much more realstic approach than the fabricated US soluton, which couldn't possibly work. Sooner or later, US will understand that no amount of pay-off's and military aid will solve the problem. But, Mexico must be patient -- US Admin has made similar mistakes in the middle east, where contraband is nuclear weapons and suicide bombers, not heroin and cocaine.

'C' does indeed mean Class. Years a go when working in the med. field we used that term instead of "schedule" when discussing meds.

I can assure you that pain meds are still QUITE available in farmacias in mexico.
Plotinus nailed that one 100%...the 'official' fed stance in mexico is "no meds w/out a script", but the reality is, the farmacia will take your cash most of the time w/ no script.
It's just not really enforced. And if 1-2 farmacias will supply meds w/ no script, the rest certainly wont sit by and lose busines if they dont have to.
It's funny....every couple of years you hear "the mexican govt is cracking down and wont sell pain meds or scheduled meds w/out a script anymore...really...they mean it this time..." Hahaha. I think it's more likely a mild scam by the farmacias to jack up pricing once in a while when they get their customers in a panic about it. (kidding)
As long as people are willing to pay, I am pretty sure the farmacia owners will always find a way to keep the biz going...

Howdee All,
I think I am going to stick with Sophie69 on this one. I mean my Lord the person said they were just in Mexico and had a "Doctor" come to the hotel room and everything with no results I might be better convinced of your statements if they were verified by someone that was really there and not just hearsay.. JMHO Hope everyone is finding Pain Free days and nights.

Sophie do you know which bar to go to in your home town to purchase Oxy - I'll bet there is one there or in a nearby town. My point being I couldn't score in Puerto Vallarta either -- I probably look like either a big-mouth tourist or a DEA agent or both.
Satchmo, please correct me here, if I'm wrong, because you seem to have excellent insight into what's going on at the street level in Mexico now.
IMO the DEA & High US Gov't officials are continually putting pressure on Mexican authorities regarding the diversion of various scheduled pharms back to the US. They even changed the embossing on Oxycontin to discourage this diversion.
Mexico is a poor country; probably not a huge internal market for expensive US drugs. But easy money for some business people to divert expensive US drugs back into the US without need for a prescription etc. First, this requires payments of the appropriate fees to the proper Mexican gov't officials. Then it requires some method of getting the product back across the border. Along the Mexican/US border there are many groups, who are very sophisticated in this part of the business. The new twists are (1) how to resolve payments that may be in the form of credit card purchase from a website rather than cash and (2) making domestic US deliveries with Fedex and UPS, the way OP's now do. In a year or two, I feel confident these issues will be sorted out. Think of this as Wal-Mart moving into the Mexican drug industry.
As to supply check Economics 1a. If there is a demand, there will be a supply. It's kind of like the Drug Warriors are fighting the laws of the universe and actually thinking they can win or atleast keep conning the taxpayers out of their money and claiming they're winning

Having squandered untold billions of dollars attempting but failing to put even a dent in the international narcotics trade, they are looking for victories wherever they invent them. So they choose the slow moving targets like mexican pharmacies and domestic pain doctors.
