Drug Enforcement dogs

I've always been curious about this and haven't been able to locate an answer. If any dog experts or trainers know, please jump in. My question is this.
I realize that the DEA and Customs 'drug-sniffing' dogs can route through packages, cars, mail, etc.. and locate street drugs like marijuana/cocaine. Are these same trained dogs able to sniff-out pills? Sounds like a dumb question but everyone I've talked to doesn't have a clue.
