hi erin, thank you for your understanding and support and your well wishes. i feel much, much better today! you know, it didn't used to be like that in the er. it seems like lately thse new resident doctors are being taught a bunch of baloney and true empathy for the suffering patient is at an all-time low. if this is the trend, i shudder to imagine what the future might hold! this wasn't the first resident doctor at that er to express extreme distaste for demerol. a little over a year ago another doctor simply stated that he didn't believe demerol, period... that he would never use it under any circumstances. at that time, i thought that was very unusual... demerol was legal and available at that hospital, but if the doctor felt like playing god, well we are at him mercy. he suffers from his messianic complex, we suffer from his megalomania. i guess that's why they take that hypocritic oath. thank GOD i am finally stocked with enough pain meds to keep me out of that er hell for quite a while. for migraines, anyway... thanks again, hon.

armywife, that is excellent advice! wow, so you went through the same thing. of course, i am sorry that you had to go through that torture, but i do feel better knowing that i'm not alone on this. when questioned, the "senior" nurse said that reglan does NOT cause that type of reaction, making me feel like something was wrong with ME!!!
oh, no! RGELAN could not have possibly had that effect on anyone. it took another nurse forever to try to convince the senior nurse to convince the doctor that i was having an adverse reaction... like i was faking it or something. i was begging for an antidote, even though i "knew" that a cure was impossible (the reglan made "normal" feel impossible, hard to explain). anyway, i will definitely list a sensitivity to reglan when filling out ANY medical form! thanks for the guidance! (btw, you are NOT weird)

cascadia, i will definitely list reglan as an allergy. the problem with listing morphine as an allergy (besides the fact, of course, that i'm not allergic to it) is that if i say that, and the doctor "doesn't believe in demerol", then they will try out a new miracle drug called "xockixosticopia" which is undertested, possibly lethally dangerous, but "non-addictive"! it will have been shown to have pseudo-pain killing properties and mildly analgesic effects which have been shown to relieve migraines in 15% more lab rats than placebo in double-blind tests. possible adverse effects include jaundice, tremors, facial tics, anxiety, headaches (paradoxically), numbness of the extremities (rarely permanent), paranoia, suicidal thoughts, temporary blindless, loss of sex drive, brain damage, and in rare cases, heart failure. BUT it is non-addictive!!! ...........um..... i'll take my chances with the morphine....
